Описание: The primary purpose of this text is to provide the student in the early part of the nutrition course with the basic elements of the science of human nutrition. Its aim is to establish the building blocks for the students as they progress through the latter and more advanced phases of their course. The editorial committee gave much consideration as to whether this book was needed and whether students could be directed to a series of existing introductory texts to achieve the same end. However it was agreed that for completeness, for ensuring proper cross-referencing and to establish a common teaching philosophy across all texts, that on balance this introductory text should be included. Some students may pursue courses which embrace the contents of this text and opt not to include nutrition in their further studies. Equally, students of subjects of nursing or other such subjects may wish to use this text to meet the needs of their course.
