Описание: Excerpt from The Horse, Its Treatment in Health and Disease, Vol. 1: With a Complete Guide to Breeding Training and Management The object of the editor in preparing this work has been to set out in one compact whole some of the most useful information relating to the horse. The origin and development of the horse, his varieties, his breeding, training, and management, in health and disease, with other cognate subjects, have each in turn been considered. To render the book more intelligible and useful to the reader, each group of diseases is preceded by a brief reference to the anatomy and physiology of the parts therein concerned, and the whole has been written in the simplest possible language consistent with a clear enunciation of the subject. Having regard to the extent and variety of the matter to be dealt with, it was necessary to seek the co-operation of outside help, and I have much pleasure in saying how readily this was accorded by my friends Sir George Brown, C.B., Dr. Fleming, Professor Shave, Mr. Harold Leeney, Mr. Hunting, Mr. Vero Shaw, Mr. Lupton, Mr. Malcolm, and others, and how much I owe them my grateful acknowledgments. The greatest care has been taken in the selection and production of the very large series of illustrations which will be found in this book. Of these many are in colours, embracing portraits of prize-winning animals of the leading varieties, and drawings from nature illustrating anatomical and pathological subjects. Описание: The system was governed by the principle of “one-pump rule” where culture water was recirculated by a 40-watt pump in a closed loop. The design prevented the system from failure and collapse since only one pump lifted the water from the bio-filtration tank, the lowest section, to the fish tank, the highest section, and allowing water to flow by gravity along the raceway and return pipe network and back to the bio-filtration tank. The system generated good water quality having 5.6 parts per million average dissolved oxygen at 100 per cent average saturation and 21.4°C average temperature with 7.1?7.5 pH and 250?390 parts per million total dissolved solids. After a 108-day growing season, 71 pieces of Nile tilapia weighing 22 kilograms and 208 heads of freshwater prawn weighing 1.137 kilograms were recovered while 500 pieces of vegetables with 180 kilograms salable weight were harvested. The system consumed 5,225 liters of water which included 10 per cent evaporation losses. The system was able to utilize and added more value to limited resources such as water, electricity and space by producing more food in one system and structure.
Описание: The study details the water management of hydroponically grown honeydew melon in tropical greenhouse using automatic controller. Nutrient solution was applied at two flow rates and three levels of application intervals to melon grown in three locally-available media to assess the growth and yield response. Water productivity and economic feasibility of the system were also evaluated. Results revealed that rice hull and pumice comparably produced larger, heavier and sweeter fruits than fresh coco peat. The flow rates of 1 L/hr and 3 L/hr showed comparable performances. However, nutrient solution when applied 24 times for 15 minutes performed relatively well and significantly affected the growth and yield of the melon than when applied 6 times for 30 minutes and 3 times for 30 minutes. Water productivity was higher in melons planted in rice hull with flow rate of 1 L/hr and application interval of 3 times for 30 minutes. Break-even point was equal to 1,014.43 kg/yr or only about 24 percent of the potential yearly harvest. It was concluded that in hydroponic melon production, automatic controller can simplified water management while supplying uniform and regular nutrient solution.

Описание: Giorgio Agamben's Homo Sacer is one of the seminal works of political philosophy in recent decades. A twenty-year undertaking, this project is a series of interconnected investigations of staggering ambition and scope investigating the deepest foundations of every major Western institution and discourse. This single book brings together for the first time all nine volumes that make up this groundbreaking project. Each volume takes a seemingly obscure and outdated issue as its starting point—an enigmatic figure in Roman law, or medieval debates about God's management of creation, or theories about the origin of the oath—but is always guided by questions with urgent contemporary relevance. The Omnibus Homo Sacer includes: 1.Homo Sacer: Sovereign Power and Bare Life 2.1.State of Exception 2.2.Stasis: Civil War as a Political Paradigm 2.3.The Sacrament of Language: An Archeology of the Oath 2.4.The Kingdom and the Glory: For a Theological Genealogy of Economy and Glory 2.5.Opus Dei: An Archeology of Duty 3.Remnants of Auschwitz: The Witness and the Archive 4.1.The Highest Poverty: Monastic Rules and Form-of-Life 4.2.The Use of Bodies
