Описание: This book provides, for the first time, a single complete reference on microphone arrays. Top researchers in this field contributed articles addressing their specific topics of study. The results cover the current state of the art in microphone array research, development, and technological application. Part I concerns the problem of enhancing the speech signal acquired by an array of microphones. Part II is devoted to the source localization problem. Part III details some specific applications of microphone array technology available today. Part IV presents expert summaries of current open problems in the field, as well as personal views of what the future of microphone array processing might hold. The individual chapters selected for the book were designed to be tutorial in nature with a specific emphasis on recent important results. They are of utility to a large audience, from the student or practising engineer just approaching the field to the experienced researcher.
Описание: Many applications of acoustic signal processing, such as teleconferencing and surveillance systems, require an estimate of several parameters present in the observed acoustic wavefield. The most important parameters are the number as well as the location of active acoustic sources. This book deals with the problem of detecting and localizing multiple simultaneously active wideband acoustic sources by applying the notion of wavefield decomposition using circular and spherical microphone arrays. The decomposed wavefield representation is used to serve as a basis for so-called modal array signal processing algorithms, which have the significant advantage over classical array signal processing algorithms that they inherently support multiple wideband acoustic sources. A rigorous derivation of modal array signal processing algorithms for unambiguous source detection and localization as well as performance evaluations by means of measurements using an actual real-time capable implementation are discussed.
Описание: Array processing is an important application of digital signal processing which can be found in radar, sonar, communications, seismology, biomedical engineering, and radar astronomy, among others.
Описание: Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) are revolutionizing digital signal processing as novel FPGA families are replacing ASICs and PDSPs for front-end digital signal processing algorithms. So the efficient implementation of these algorithms is critical and is the main goal of this book. It starts with an overview of today's FPGA technology, devices, and tools for designing state-of-the-art DSP systems. A case study in the first chapter is the basis for more than 40 design examples throughout. The following chapters deal with computer arithmetic concepts, theory and the implementation of FIR and IIR filters, multirate digital signal processing systems, DFT and FFT algorithms, advanced algorithms with high future potential, and adaptive filters. Each chapter contains exercises. The VERILOG source code and a glossary are given in the appendices, while the accompanying CD-ROM contains the examples in VHDL and Verilog code as well as the newest Altera "Quartus II web edition" software. This edition has a new chapter on microprocessors, new sections on special functions using MAC calls, intellectual property core design and arbitrary sampling rate converters, and over 100 new exercises.
Описание: Drawing from the knowledge, experience, and insight of leading engineers, researchers, and scholars in the field, this volume is one of three self-contained volumes in the new Digital Signal Processing Handbook, Second Edition. It provides complete coverage of the foundations of signal processing related to wireless, radar, space–time coding, and mobile communications, together with associated applications to networking, storage, and communications. This second edition contains 22 new chapters on WiFi, WiMax, ultra wideband applications, Internet tomography, and detection and provides technical details and introduction to standards and software.

"5 Stars: this book is well written and covers many of the aspects of DSP with FPGAs. I run a business that specializes exclusively in high performance DSP designs using FPGAs. This book pretty much covers it all, in fact it closely parallels the material we present in our DSP for FPGAs seminar. I very highly recommend this book."Ray Andraka of Andraka Consultants, N. Описание: Sensors arrays are used in diverse applications across a broad range of disciplines. Regardless of the application, however, the tools of sensor array signal processing remain the same. This book studies different types of sensor configurations, but focuses on the uniform linear and circular arrays.
