Описание: Fundamentals of Biomechanics, 2nd edition, presents a clear, conceptual approach to understanding biomechanics within the context of the qualitative analysis of human movement. The philosophy is to blend up-to-date biomechanical knowledge (with extensive referencing for student study) with professional application knowledge. This true application of biomechanics in real-world settings is missing in previous biomechanics texts. The text provides real-world examples of the application of biomechanics several ways. Like other texts, human movement examples and problems are discussed to help teach biomechanical variables and concepts. This text, however, goes beyond this physics class with sport example approach. First, nine principles of biomechanics are developed throughout the book to link theoretical knowledge with practical/professional principles and application. These nine generic application principles are based on the laws and concepts of biomechanics, so they can be applied to all human movements. There principles help PETE majors address standard 2 on applying movement concepts and principles in physical education (NASPE, 1995). Most biomechanics texts that have tried to develop principles for application have created many specific observations about many categories of human movement, so students tend to get lost. Second, the last section of the book develops the application of biomechanics in qualitative analysis of several movements in four professional areas: physical education, coaching, strength & conditioning, and sports medicine. These guided tours of the application of biomechanics to solve human movement problems are similar to the extensive interdisciplinary qualitative analysis tutorials in Knudson & Morrison (2002).

Описание: Orthopaedic surgeons require not only an understanding of anatomy and clinical sciences, and competence in surgical skills, but also a strong foundation in biomechanics. The application of biomechanics plays an increasing role in modern orthopaedics; for example, correct decisions about the mode of treatment and choice of implants are just as important as operating precisely to reach a specific anatomical landmark. This book simplifies the core principles in orthopaedic biomechanics, giving readers the solid grounding they need to flourish in the specialty. Each topic is covered in a discrete, double-page spread, featuring concise text accompanied by illustrations or tables to give readers a solid understanding of the concepts discussed. This is a must-read guide for orthopaedic trainees at every level, and will be valuable for biomechanical researchers and other professionals in the field.

Описание: A project on "Biomechanics at Micro- and Nanoscale Levels", the title of this book, was approved by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and
Technology of Japan in 2003. This 4-year-project was carried out by 14 prominent Japanese researchers and ended in late March 2007. The project consisted of four fields of research,
namely, cell mechanics, cell response to mechanical stimulation, tissue engineering, and computational biomechanics.
A series of four books related to this project was
published between 2003 and 2007. The present volume is the last book in this series, and summarizes the research results achieved by project members throughout its 4-year duration.
This book is essential reading for those interested in understanding current trends of research in the area of biomechanics at micro- and nanoscale levels.

Описание: Why do you shift from walking to running at a particular speed? This explains how biomechanics makes use of models and methods drawn from physics and mechanical engineering to investigate a range of general questions - from how animals swim and fly and the modes of terrestrial locomotion to the way organisms respond to wind and water currents.

Описание: Concludes the seminal trilogy, the world`s premiere authority on biomechanics. This work articulates physiological phenomena from the perspective of classical engineering. It includes problem sets to stimulate thought and discussion among advanced undergraduates, graduate students, and others with an interest in bioengineering and medicine.
Описание: A project on "Biomechanics at Micro- and Nanoscale Levels", the title of this book, was approved by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and
Technology of Japan in 2003; and this four-year project is now being carried out by fourteen prominent Japanese researchers. At the 5th World Congress of Biomechanics held in
Munich, Germany, from 29th July to 4th August, 2006, we organized the following sessions: Thread 3: Biomechanics at micro- and nanoscale levels - cell mechanics; molecular
biomechanics; mechanobiology at micro- and nanoscale levels; and computational biomechanics. The present proceedings volume covers topics related to these sessions, and follows
on from where the previous two volumes left off.
This book is essential reading for those interested in understanding current trends of research in the area of biomechanics at
micro- and nanoscale levels.
