Описание:
Pericyclic Reactions: A Mechanistic and Problem-Solving Approach provides complete and systematic coverage of pericyclic reactions for researchers and graduate students in organic chemistry and pharmacy programs. Drawing from their cumulative years of teaching in the area, the authors use a clear, problem-solving approach, supplemented with colorful figures and illustrative examples.
Written in an accessible and engaging manner, this book covers electrocyclic reactions, sigmatropic reactions, cycloaddition reactions, 1,3-dipolar reactions, group transfer, and ene reactions. It offers an in-depth study of the basic principles of these topics, and devotes equal time to problems and their solutions to further explore those principles and aid reader understanding. Additional practice problems are provided for further study and course use.

Описание: Pericyclic reaction - the third type of organic reaction mechanism along with ionic and radical reactions - include some of the most powerful synthetically useful reactions, like the Diels - Alder reaction, 1,3- dipolar cycloaddition the Alder ene reaction, Claisen rearrangements, the 2,3-Wittig rearrangement, diimide reduction, sulfoxide elimination and many others. These reactions are characterised by having cyclic transition structures, and also have highly predictable stereochemical features. Every organic chemist must be able to recognise the various types of pericyclic reaction and know something of their mechanisms and the factors that affect how well they work in organic synthesis. This book identifies the four main classes of pericyclic reaction, and discusses the main characteristics of the most important class, cycloadditions - providing a working knowledge, based on real examples, of their scope, patterns of reactivity, and stereochemistry. Then it explains the main features using ideas based in molecular orbital theory, but ( as in the companion book by A. J. Kirby on Stereoelectronic Effects ) without mathematics. It presents the Woodward - Hoffmann rules in the form of two all-encompassing rules, one for thermal reactions and its opposite for photochemical reactions. These rules are explained in detail and carefully illustrated, so that you will be able to predict the stereochemical outcome for any pericyclic reaction. The remaining chapters use this theoretical framework to show how the rules work with the other three classes of pericyclic reactions - electrocyclic reactions, sigmatropic rearrangements and group transfer reactions. By the end of the book, you will be able to recognise any pericyclic reaction and predict with confidence whether it is allowed, and with what stereochemistry, and you will have a working knowledge of the range of pericyclic reactions available to the synthetic organic chemist.
Описание: This book offers in-depth insights into the photochemical behavior of multicomponent polymeric-based materials, with a particular emphasis on the photodegradation and photostabilization of these materials. Studying various classes of materials bases such as polysaccharides, wood, synthetic polymers, rubber blends, and nanocomposites, it offers a valuable reference source for graduate and postgraduate students, engineering students, research scholars and polymer engineers working in industry.
Описание: * The first book to update the advances in supramolecular photochemistry in over two decades * This area has witnessed tremendous expansion over the last decade due to the hype surrounding advances in nanoscience and nanotechnology.

Описание: Pericyclic reactions, a fundamental strand of organic chemistry, include a number of commercially important synthetic reactions such as the Diels-Alder reaction. This primer enables students to recognise the different types of pericyclic reaction and understand their application in organic synthesis.
Continuous-flow photochemistry is an expanding field within chemistry. It unites the mass transfer enhancement of flow chemistry with the high energy field density of microscale geometries. Moreover, it provides means to scale photochemical reactions efficiently.
This book gives an overview of both technological and chemical aspects associated with photochemical processes in microreactors. It provides analysis, the first of its kind, of these new technologies developed within the field of photochemical processes, with a description and case studies of practical implementation. It specifically looks at:
Design considerations of continuous-flow photoreactors;
Detailed descriptions of photon and mass-transfer phenomena;
Modeling approaches for photochemical transformations;
Scale up strategies for photochemical transformations;
Examples of continuous-flow photochemistry in organic synthetic chemistry and material science;
Industrial examples of photochemical transformations.
By providing a deeper understanding of underlying concepts, coupled with numerous examples, this book is an essential reference for chemistry students, researchers and professionals working on photochemistry, photoredox catalysis, flow chemistry, process chemistry and reactor engineering.
