Описание:

Life today poses many questions, both in our personal lives and in our participation in nature and the broader culture. We often focus on the outer needs for social, political, technological, or environmental change. However, can we really meet the challenges around us without also attending to our inner life and to our own evolving biography as it re ects and informs the outer world?

This book starts from the premise that each of our lives expresses uniqueness of spiritual intention within the unfolding of universal rhythms and possibilities. Can we wake up to the developmental opportunities offered to us through different life phases? Are we able to step out of the narrowness of the dualistic nature-nurture argument and experience that we are both more than our genetic composition and more than a product of the social and educational in uences that have shaped us? Can we come to appreciate the learning that our I has received through heredity, ethnicity, schooling, and gender without losing a sense of our true individuality? Waking up to our unique self as it grows through interaction with the world and other human beings helps us recognize the significance we all play in one anothers biographies and in the unfolding of our larger human story.

Why on Earth? invites us to explore our own meaning-filled life journey, to bring conscious attention to how we go our path, so that we may more freely perceive our possibilities and our responsibilities along the way of our personal and shared becoming.

Описание: The nation's #1 real estate broker and charismatic costar of Bravo's Million Dollar Listing New York shares his secrets on how to be successful.

In the ten years since moving from Sweden to New York City, with no experience in real estate and no contacts, Fredrik Eklund has transformed himself into the best seller in the most competitive real estate market on the planet. In The Sell, Eklund leverages his years of experience to create the go-to manual for self-promotion and sales. At the core of the book are chapters tied to Eklund's 10-step program for ';selling anything to everyone,' and he shares his secrets on everything from personal authenticity and looking your very best to crafting the perfect sales pitch, negotiating with savvy, and closing deals promptly and efficiently .

. . lest they slip away.

Whether you're just starting a job as a sales rep at Verizon, navigating your career as an executive or entrepreneur, or hitting your stride closing big transactions as a banker at Goldman Sachs, The Sell will show you how to improve your game and radically increase the money you're bringing home.

The Sell is a vital resource for anyone who wants to have an impact in his or her personal and professional life, with a razor-sharp focus on selling: selling yourself—or your brand—no matter your background.

Описание: A member of the so-called "Pictures Generation," Troy Brauntuch (born 1954) makes appropriated works that, by removing or adding context, can, on one hand, empty out culturally charged icons, and on the other hand, supply seemingly innocuous material with massive charge. Brauntuch's work 1 2 3 provides a useful example of the tactics he likes to employ; it consists of screenprints of a set of fairly unremarkable sketches--a tank, a vestibule, a stage set--which turn out to have been drawn by one Adolf Hitler. This semiotic standoff between innocuous artwork and not-so-innocuous author compels the viewer to ponder the constructions of significance one so often unthinkingly performs when looking at art--constructions that Brauntuch has consistently sabotaged throughout his 30-year career. This first survey of Brauntuch's work includes essays by Johanna Burton and Douglas Eklund, curator of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's critically acclaimed 2009 Pictures Generation exhibition.
