Описание: A great deal is known about how infants form attachments, and how these processes carry over into adolescence. But after that, the trail grows cold: the study of adult attachment emphasizes individual variations, paying little attention to the normative mechanisms of adult bonding.ГЇВїВЅГЇВїВЅ A much-needed corrective, Bases of Adult Attachment examines this under-investigated topic with an eye toward creating a robust theoretical model. The first volume of its kind, its multilevel approach integrates current findings from neuroscience and psychology to analyze the processes by which adult relationships develop, mature, function, and dissolve. Here in relevant detail are factors contributing to initial attraction, possible scenarios in the evolution from friendship to attachment, and the changes that occur on both sides of a relationship as partners mutually influence each other`s behavior, emotions, cognition, and even physiology. And expert contributors address long-neglected questions in the field with stimulating topics such as:ГЇВїВЅГЇВїВЅГЇВїВЅГЇВїВЅ The distress-relief dynamic in attachment bonding. An expectancy-value approach to attachment. The biobehavioral legacy of early attachment relationships for adult emotional and interpersonal functioning. How early experiences shape attraction, partner preferences, and attachment dynamics. How mental representations change as attachments form. Insights into the formation of attachment bonds from a social network perspective. Bases of Adult Attachment will interest scholars approaching adult attachment at multiple levels of analysis (neural, physiological, affective, cognitive, and behavioral) and from multiple perspectives. This wide audience includes developmental, social, and cognitive psychologists as well as neuroscientists, neuropsychologists, clinicians, sociologists, family researchers, and professionals in public health and medicin

Описание: The International Symposium on Hearing is a triennial, highly-prestigious event where world-class scientists present and discuss the most recent advances in the field of hearing research in animals and humans. The symposium focuses on the relationship between auditory physiology, psychoacoustics, and computational modeling. Presented papers range from basic to applied research, and are published in book format. The books from past editions have a large demand by neuroscientists, otolaryngologists, psychologists, and artificial intelligence researchers. This book would detail the 2009 symposium and Springer will continue it`s involvement with the symposium as Springer has published the two previous symposia proceedings.

Описание: This volume encompasses the Proceedings of the First International Colloquium on Physical and Chemical Information Transfer and Regulation of Reproduction and Ageing (Colloquium '74-PCITRRA), held at the F. Joliot- Curie International House of Scientists, Varna, Bulgaria, October 7-14. This international event was made possible by the financial support afforded by the International Union of Biochemistry through Doctor P.N. Campbell, the International Union of Pure and Applied Biophysics through Doctor R.D. Keynes, UNESCO, and the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The characteristic and stimulating feature of the Colloquium'74-PCITRRA was the interdisciplinary audience (physicists, biologists, physicians, chemists, mathema- ticians, engineers) and the orientation to information transfer and biological recognition in ageing. The at- tention was focused on receptor transformation, espe- cially that in ageing. Of special interest were the mathematical models and the theoretical basis of bio-information transfer, the age changes of the receptor recognition, the chemi- cal information transfer in development, the hormone- hormone interaction envisaged in their biophysical and biochemical aspects. The Colloquium '74 provided a very frank, critical and stimulating atmosphere for work and discussion on the latest results and concepts in topics of interest. The active role of the chairmen, Doctors. H.R. Arnstein, H.-J. Bartels, M. Blecher, J.A. Edwardson, M.R.P. Hall, E.V. Jensen, B.B. Saxena, J.R. Tata, and Ya.M. Varshavsky, was a great contribution in this respect and we would like to express our gratitude to them.
