Better patient management starts with better documentation Documentation for Rehabilitation: A Guide to Clinical Decision Making in Physical Therapy, 3rd Edition shows how to accurately document treatment progress and patient outcomes. Designed for use by rehabilitation professionals, documentation guidelines are easily adaptable to different practice settings and patient populations. Realistic examples and practice exercises reinforce concepts and encourage you to apply what you've learned. Written by expert physical therapy educators Lori Quinn and James Gordon, this book will improve your skills in both documentation and clinical reasoning.
A practical framework
shows how to organize and structure PT records, making it easier to document functional outcomes in many practice settings, and is based on the International Classification for Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF) model - the one adopted by the APTA.
Coverage of practice settings includes documentation examples in acute care, rehabilitation, outpatient, home care, and nursing homes, as well as a separate chapter on documentation in pediatric settings.
Guidelines to systematic documentation describe how to identify, record, measure, and evaluate treatment and therapies - especially important when insurance companies require evidence of functional progress in order to provide reimbursement.
Workbook/textbook format uses examples and exercises in each chapter to reinforce your understanding of concepts.
NEW Standardized Outcome Measures chapter
leads to better care and patient management by helping you select the right outcome measures for use in evaluations, re-evaluations, and discharge summaries.
UPDATED content is based on data from current research, federal policies and APTA guidelines, including incorporation of new terminology from the Guide to Physical Therapist 3.0 and ICD-10 coding.
EXPANDED number of case examples covers an even broader range of clinical practice areas.

Описание: Virtual Reality for Physical and Motor Rehabilitation
Описание: This book examines the new knowledge that has been gained from the objective monitoring of habitual physical activity by means of pedometers and accelerometers. It reviews current advances in the technology of activity monitoring and details advantages of objective monitors relative to physical activity questionnaires. It points to continuing gaps in knowledge, and explores the potential for further advances in the design of objective monitoring devices. Epidemiologists have studied relationships between questionnaire assessments of habitual physical activity and various medical conditions for some seventy years. In general, they have observed positive associations between regular exercise and good health, but because of inherent limitations in the reliability and accuracy of physical activity questionnaires, optimal exercise recommendations for the prevention and treatment of disease have remained unclear. Inexpensive pedometers and accelerometers now offer the epidemiologist the potential to collect relatively precisely graded and objective information on the volume, intensity and patterns of effort that people are undertaking, to relate this data to past and future health experience, and to establish dose/response relationships between physical activity and the various components of health. Such information is important both in assessing the causal nature of the observed associations and in establishing evidence-based recommendations concerning the minimal levels of daily physical activity needed to maintain good health.

Описание:
With straightforward, in-depth coverage of the use of physical agents to improve patient outcomes, Physical Agents in Rehabilitation: An Evidence-Based Approach to Practice, 5th Edition reflects how physical agents and modalities are being discussed in the classroom. This new edition brings the ideal balance of evidence and practical instruction to the learning and practice of physical agents in rehabilitation. Comprehensive coverage of all physical agents includes the mechanisms, clinical effects, and application techniques for thermal agents, ultrasound, electrical currents, electromagnetic radiation, hydrotherapy, traction, and compression. Plus, each chapter includes a scientific rationale and step-by-step instructions in the use of the agent(s), as well as up-to-date research support and new Find the Evidence tables. The new edition is supported with electronic ancillaries including review questions for students, PowerPoints(R), and links to all references on Medline.
Comprehensive coverage of all physical agents
includes the mechanisms, clinical effects, and application techniques for thermal agents, ultrasound, electrical currents, electromagnetic radiation, hydrotherapy, traction, and compression.
Find the Evidence tables guide the reader in finding up-to-date, patient-specific evidence using the PICO framework.
Electrical Stimulation, Ultrasound & Laser Light Handbook helps you to understand the material and can be printed out for quick reference to use in the clinical setting.
NEW Chapter on biofeedbackcomplements the coverage of powered devices used in rehabilitation.
UNIQUE New Find the Evidence tables guide the reader in finding up-to-date, patient-specific evidence using the PICO framework.
