Magersucht, Gewich- und Nahrungsmit- telphobie, Furcht vor dem Erwachsenwerden, Korperbildstorung, Storung der Geschlechtsrollenidentitiit und hormonelle Stoff- wechselstorung sind lediglich einige der Synonyme und erkliiren- den Begriffe, in deren konzeptueller Breite sich sowohl die weiterhin offene Diskussion der urn wissenschaftliches Verstand- nis der Erkrankung bemiihten Gelehtten widerspiegelt, wie auch die Note derjenigen Fachkriifte, die angesichts der dramatischen Symptomatik und divergierenden Konzepte und Behandlungs- vorschliige dazu aufgefordert sind, durch schnelles Eingreifen den destruktiven Verlauf der Erkrankung anzuhalten und wei- tergehende therapeutische Hilfe zu planen und umzusetzen. Dies alles vor dem Hintergrund einer anscheinend weiter steigenden Erkrankungshiiufigkeit. Wir konnen davon ausgehen, daB sich die Inzidenz der Erkrankung in der Risikopopulation (vor allem weibliche Jugendliche und junge Frauen im Alter von 12-25 Jahren) wiihrend der zuriickliegenden drei Dekaden vervielfacht hat, und heute eines von hundert Miidchen oder jungen Frauen dieser Altersgruppe ernstlich von der Erkrankung betroffen ist, wiihrend moglicherweise zehn von hundert sich mit leichteren Formen, anorektogenen Verhaltens' konfrontiert sehen. Beim Nachlesen der Berichte der friihen Beschreiber iiber- raschen immer noch die scharfsichtigen Beobachtungen, wenn auch nicht unbedingt (aus heutiger Sicht) die daraus abgeleiteten SchluBfolgerungen. Lasegue (1873) beschrieb bereits die auffal- lenden gegenseitigen Einmischungen der Familienmitglieder und wies mit Nachdruck auf die Familienpathologie hin.
