Описание: Endoscopic microsurgery is a developing technique in plastic surgery. There are many advantages over traditional methods: improved access to difficult and hidden areas, better mobility, one optical instrument for endoscopic dissection and the microsurgical part, reduced overall costs, and a possibility to develop new procedures supported by the use of the endoscope. In the first volume of the series "Update in Plastic Surgery” internationally acknowledged experts give an up-to-date view of the clinical possibilities in plastic surgery which result from video-assisted microsurgery with the endoscope. Advantages and disadvantages are discussed, and reasons are presented why it can be assumed that this technique will be the standard in plastic surgery within a few years.

Описание:
Representing the pinnacle of skull base surgery, paraganglioma management requires the advanced surgical skills and expertise that are presented by Dr. Mario Sanna and his team in this comprehensive reference. It incorporates extensive surgical and radiological data compiled over 20 years at the preeminent Gruppo Otologica Clinic in Piacenza, Italy, and features the exquisite intraoperative photographs and schematic diagrams that are a hallmark of the highly regarded Sanna texts. All head and neck and skull base surgeons will find their knowledge, technical proficiency, and ability to manage these challenging tumors vastly increased by this informative resource.
Special Features
Step-by-step descriptions of the full range of head and neck paraganglioma procedures, including the infratemporal fossa approach type A, the extreme lateral approach, and the transcervical approach, plus guidance on managing complex tympanojugular paragangliomas
More than 1,800 clearly labeled, high-quality intraoperative photographs correlated to full-color schematic drawings for an in-depth understanding of techniques
Detailed discussion of managing the internal carotid artery during procedures, including the neuroradiological use of stents
Pathology-oriented structure that allows the reader to identify a lesion at a particular stage and then follow the critical thinking, assessment, pre-operative management, and intra-operative course taken by the surgeon
Comprehensive sections on pathology, physiology, anatomy, epidemiology, and new genetic breakthroughs that lay the groundwork for the surgical chapters
Tips, hints, and pitfalls at the end of each chapter that offer valuable insights for managing different clinical scenarios
Demonstrating the complex decision-making process in many actual cases and offering practical advice for handling complications, this book puts the reader into the operating room with the surgeon. It is indispensable for all head and neck and skull base surgeons who manage paragangliomas and related pathologies, as well as for otolaryngologists, neurosurgeons, maxillofacial surgeons, radiologists, and interventional radiologists involved in assessing these intricate conditions.

Описание: In June 1973, Professor George Austin invited a small group of neuroscientists from Asia, Europe, the United States, and Canada to the Loma Linda University School of Medicine in Loma Linda, California.
Описание: In Wolfgang Koos' final work, a lifetime of experience in the surgical treatment of the acoustic neurinoma is presented in the style of the brilliantly successful Koos-Spetzler microneurosurgery series. Diagnosis is a strong point of this atlas, as surgical strategies are planned according to the anatomic location and growth pattern of these tumors. The preoperative considerations, operating room set-up, patient positioning, and neuronavigational equipment are described for microsurgery in the cerebellopontine angle region. The operative techniques for removing acoustic neurinomas in correlation with size and extension of the tumor are then provided in step-by-step detail; intraoperative photographs are paired with explanatory colored line drawings of astonishing clarity. Finally, the tumors of the cerebellopontine angle that may mimic acoustic neurinoma are described.

Описание: This volume is dedicated to the Third International Symposium on Microneurosurgical Anastomoses for Cerebral Ischemia, which took place in Rottach-Egern, June 2&-30, 1976, under the sponsorship of Professor F. Marguth, Director of the Depart- ment of Neurosurgery, Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich (West Germany). It contains the continuing devel- opments of the extra- intracranial arterial bypass (EIAB) for cerebrovascular occlusive disease since the First International Symposium in Lorna Linda, California, in June, 1973, and the Second International Symposium in Chicago, Illinois, in June, 1974. The EIAB was developed by Donaghy and Yasargil, and it consists of a microsurgical anastomosis of the superficial tem- poral artery or the occipi tal branch of the external carotid artery to the middle cerebral artery on the surface of the brain and, very recently, the anastomosis of the occipital artery to the posterior-inferior cerebellar artery for the treatment of verte- brobasilar insufficiency. From the presentations at the sym- posium it became evident that the greatest potential in the pre- vention of a stroke in a susceptible patient is the presence of an adequate collateral cerebral blood flow. The basic diagnostic procedure is cerebral angiography in- cluding both carotid and vertebral arteries. Regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) studies and computerized tomography add further diagnostic information and are particularly important in the selection of potential surgical candidates.
