Описание: This book provides descriptions of up-to-date treatment options for adult DDH/CDH (Dysplasia and Dislocation of the Hip/Congenital Dislocation of the Hip). It describes the author’s modification of peri-acetabular osteotomy for young adult DDH patients, resurfacing arthroplasty for selected patients and total hip arthroplasty for advanced arthritis and dislocation. Untreated high dislocation of the hip in adults are rare in developed countries now. The chapter of total hip describes more than 300 total hips for high dislocation with specific attempt to symmetrize the lower limbs. Techniques are described in detail, which includes ilio-femoral distraction, acetabular reconstruction, femoral osteoplasty, and shortening, derotation and corrective osteotomies. The editors invited several surgeons who are reputed for treating adult DDH with joint salvage and joint replacement to write chapters of this book.

Описание: Many advances have been made in understanding skeletal dysplasias since the first edition of this classic text appeared in 1974. The diagnostic process has been refined, many new disorders have been recognized, and the molecular aspects in many cases have been elucidated. The second edition has been completely updated, with the help of two new co-authors, to incorporate these advances. The book's format is similar to the original but the number of conditions covered has almost
doubled and molecular information has been added wherever available. The number of figures has been increased to the limit of economic wisdom. As in the first edition, the illustrations have been selected and sequenced to illustrate both the degree of variability of a given disorder and its changes with age. This book is designed for physicians involvin the evaluation and treatment of patients with skeletal dysplasias, including radiologists, medical geneticists, paediatricians, and
orthopaedic surgeons. Its main goal is to assist in the diagnosis of specific conditions and the care of affected individuals. Though mutations of specific genes can produce dysplasias with very different phenotypes and prognoses, the primarily clinical aim of this book dictated a phenotypic classification in general, with compromises on etiologic grounds where necessary. Since the attempt to diagnose a skeletal dysplasia from single signs, alone or in combination, is fraught with errors,
the authors focus on basic patterns of skeletal abnormalities.

Описание: This title presents the radiological manifestations of the genetic skeletal dysplasias in the form of Gamut Lists. Its purpose is to act as an aid to differential diagnosis following the observation of abnormalities in bone radiographs. The first section of the book comprises gamut lists of generalised skeletal abnormalities. The second section takes a regional approach and in the third section, brief outlines and key references are provided for the heritable skeletal disorders listed in Sections 1 and 2. At appropriate places in the text pertinent comment is made concerning practical issues in radio-diagnosis of these conditions. An extensive index is provided. This new edition of the book has been extensively updated and expanded and provides the user with an accurate and effective diagnostic tool.
