Описание: The book covers a wide range of wireless communication and network technologies, and will help readers understand the role of wireless technologies in applications touching on various spheres of human life, e.g. healthcare, agriculture, building smart cities, forecasting and the manufacturing industry. The book begins by discussing advances in wireless communication, including emerging trends and research directions for network technologies. It also highlights the importance of and need to actively develop these technologies. In turn, the book addresses different algorithms and methodologies which could be beneficial in implementing 5G Mobile Communication, Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANET), Reliable Cooperative Networks, Delay Tolerant Networks (DTN) and many more contexts related to advanced communications. It then addresses the prominence of wireless communication in connection with the Internet of Things (IoT), Mobile Opportunistic Networks and Cognitive Radio Networks (CRN). Lastly, it presents the new horizons in architecture and building protocols for Li-Fi (Light-Fidelity) and Wearable Sensor Technology.
Emerging Nanotechnologies for Diagnostics, Drug Delivery and Medical Devices covers the modern micro and nanotechnologies used for diagnosis, drug delivery, and theranostics using micro, nano, and implantable systems. In-depth coverage of all aspects of disease treatment is included.
In addition, the book covers cutting-edge research and technology that will help readers gain knowledge of novel approaches and their applications to improve drug/agent specificity for diagnosis and efficient disease treatment. It is a comprehensive guide for medical specialists, the pharmaceutical-industry, and academic researchers discussing the impact of nanotechnology on diagnosis, drug delivery, and theranostics.
Описание: Matthias W?rlpresents two essential steps to implement offline PET monitoring of proton dosedelivery at a clinical facility, namely the setting up of an accurate MonteCarlo model of the clinical beamline and the experimental validation ofpositron emitter production cross-sections. In the first part, the field sizedependence of the dose output is described for scanned proton beams. Both theMonte Carlo and an analytical computational beam model were able to accuratelypredict target dose, while the latter tends to overestimate dose in normaltissue. In the second part, the author presents PET measurements of differentphantom materials, which were activated by the proton beam. The resultsindicate that for an irradiation with a high number of protons for the sake ofgood statistics, dead time losses of the PET scanner may become important andlead to an underestimation of positron-emitter production yields.
