Dielectric metamaterials are a promising solution for achieving low loss operation at high frequencies and the realization of metadevices. Dielectric Metamaterials links fundamental Mie scattering theory with the latest dielectric metamaterial research, providing a valuable reference for new and experienced researchers in this field. The book begins with a historical overview evolved from the beginnings of Mie scattering theory. Then, the authors describe how to apply Mie theory to analytically solve the scattering of electromagnetic waves by subwavelength particles. Later chapters will focus on Mie resonator-based metamaterials starting from microwaves where particles are much smaller than the free space wavelengths. Dielectric metamaterials and metasurfaces operating at higher frequencies will then be discussed.

Several chapters will focus on wave-front engineering using dielectric metasurfaces. In the last 2-3 chapters, the book will cover the nonlinear optical effects, spontaneous emission manipulation, active devices and 3D effective media using dielectric metamaterials; these are emerging areas surrounding dielectric metasurfaces.
