This book provides a complete set of the resources needed for doing the preliminary practices of innermost unsurpassed Dzogchen according to the Longchen Nyingthig tradition. It begins with the actual liturgy for the practice, written by the first Dodrupchen, one of the heart disciples of Jigmey Lingpa. It continues with four major commentaries that explain the theory and the practice in great detail. Then it adds three different prayers by Padmsambhava and Jigmey Lingpa to make a rich set of resources needed for understanding and doing the practice. Extensive footnotes, glossary, and so on are included.
The commentaries add great value to the book, making it of interest not only to those doing this specific practice, but to everyone wanting to know more about Dzogchen.
The first commentary is the most popular Tibetan commentary, written by the first Khyentse, Khyentse Wangpo. The second and third commentaries are by a great Longchen Nyingthig master who lived in East Tibet in the 20th century, Yukhog Chadralwa. He was known for having heard an enormous amount of teaching from various masters and having practised it to completion. His writings are filled with oral instructions obtained from various Longchen Nyingthig lineage holders, giving the reader access to the tradition in ways not normally possible. One of his commentaries gives very clear presentations of important but little known aspects of the theory behind the liturgy for doing the preliminaries. Both commentaries also contain high-level instructions on the practice of Dzogchen in general, which makes the book of interest to everyone interested in the Dzogchen teachings. This is the first time Yukhog Chadralwa's commentaries have appeared in English.
The final commentary is by the translator and author of the book who was encouraged by his lineage gurus to write a major commentary in English. This commentary clarifies the unique terminology of the Dzogchen system and also the meaning of the liturgy in a straightforward but precise way. It clarifies several very difficult points of the liturgy, which have not been well understood to date. The commentary is based on extensive oral instructions that the author received from a variety of lineage gurus during his stays in Tibet.
All in all, this book provides everything needed by someone wanted to do this particular Dzogchen preliminary practice in a way not seen so far in English and also provides extensive teachings on the main practice of Dzogchen.
This book contains two grammar texts by Yangchen Drubpay Dorje, an important Tibetan grammarian of the eighteenth century. They are beginners' texts which explain the first of Thumi Sambhota's treatises that define Tibetan grammar--The Thirty Verses and Application of Gender Signs (rtags kyi 'jug pa). Yangchen Drubpay Dorje's texts were so well written that they rapidly became the standard texts used within Tibet for teaching and learning Tibetan grammar. The two grammar texts, called The Great Living Tree and Explanation of the Great Living Tree are, even now, used in all Tibetan schools both inside and outside Tibet as the textbooks for teaching grammar. These textbooks are the ideal starting place for anyone wanting to learn Tibetan grammar.
The author of the book, Lama Tony Duff, has had a long association with Tibetan grammar as taught by Tibetans. He first learned Tibetan grammar using the books available in English but later learned it in Tibetan from Tibetans in Tibetan contexts. He found a distinct difference between how Westerners and Tibetans present Tibetan grammar and, with that, found that the presentations given by Westerners have been lacking and even mistaken. For this reason, he undertook the major task of translating the most important Tibetan grammar texts and publishing them together with extensive notes and explanations so that Westerners, and especially those translating the Buddha-Word, could finally gain a correct understanding of Tibetan grammar. As a result, there are four books in this series in which key Tibetan grammar texts are individually presented. In a second series, there are two grand treatises which collectively explore all of the minutest details of Tibetan grammar, called the Standard Reference to Tibetan Grammar volumes I and II.
Lama Tony's deep knowledge of Tibetan grammar as understood by Tibetans themselves has been a key factor in his production of many authentic translations of Tibetan Buddhist texts. Because of his extensive and highly regarded translation work, he has been invited to prestigious institutions to teach Tibetan grammar according to the Tibetan system and is constantly endeavouring to pass on his knowledge of translation to other translators.

The Collected Works of Dusum Khyenpa, the first Karmapa, consists of four volumes of texts. The Collected Works is very rare, almost non-existent, but we obtained a copy. The Collected Works mostly contains complete sets of teachings on the various yidams of the Kagyu lineage that Dusum Khyenpa received and practised. However, there is a section containing eight dohas or spontaneous songs of spiritual realization that were sung by Dusum Khyenpa. There is also a text that gives the transmission of a specific Mahamudra teaching called "Mahamudra, the Thunderbolt." We translated seven of the eight dohas and the Mahamudra teaching and put them together into this book, for the sake of the many followers of the Karmapa and the Kagyu teachings in general.

Описание:
Longchen Nyingthig contains a text for Chod practice which Jigmey Lingpa received as mind treasure from Longchenpa. The text consists of an explanation of the practice and liturgy for it. The text is popularly known by its Tibetan name "khadro gayjang" or "Sound of Dakini Laughter". This book contains a fresh translation of the text, one which is accurate yet maintains the rhythms and poetry of the Tibetan original. The text assumes a high level of understanding of the system and its terminology. Therefore, the most popular commentary to the text, by Dza Patrul, has also been included. It explains the visualizations of the practice and makes some very important comments about the right and wrong way to practice Chod. Jigmey Lingpa's text contains much which is not explained in Dza Patrul's text. Therefore, the author was encouraged by several lineage holding gurus to write a long commentary that would explain the whole text in a way that would make it accessible to English speakers. The commentary, the first true commentary to this text written by a qualified Western teacher, has also been included. The book also includes carefully edited editions of the Tibetan texts. The extensive introduction contains a very interesting discussion of the differences between general Chod and Nyingthig Chod making the book of special interest to all Chod practitioners. The book will also be of special interest to all Longchen Nyingthig practitioners and of general interest to all Dzogchen practitioners.
