Описание: This whimsically illustrated deck is destined to help the user connect with their intuition and deepen their selfcare practice. Whether they find meaning in the cards alone or consult the in-depth guidebook for mantras, journal prompts, and additional guidance, this powerful healing tool for the modern spiritual seeker gives the user permission to put self-care at the top of their to-do list.
Описание: The book is intended to be self-contained and assessable to a large number of readers, and it is divided into two volumes. The book deals with the mathematical plate tectonic theory based on the authors ideas and scientific results. The book gives the uniform and consistent mathematical theory that facilitates theoretical study of Earths evolution during all of the geological periods (spanning about 4 billion years), and namely, during the relatively short time intervals from a geological point of view.
The main objective of the book is to provide a compressive introduction to the main aspects of global tectonics and to introduce the corresponding mathematical plate tectonic theory. The presented mathematical plate tectonic theory is based, from a mathematical point of view, on the dynamic multi-body contact theory in three main rheologies the thermo-visco-plastic Bingham rheology and the special (non)-linear thermo-visco-elastic rheologies with short and long memories, respectively, that seem to be optimal for the present-day mathematical and computational studies of plate tectonic problems. The presented theory is consistent with the global model of the Earth.
Volume 1 is divided into nine chapters. This volume looks at the fundamental topics and questions relating to the mechanism of evolution of the upper parts of the Earth the lithosphere and the mantle over several billion years. Following an introduction to the modeling of geodynamic processes in the lithosphere and the mantle, functional, convex and numerical analyses, the volume devotes individual chapters to introduce readers to: the structure of the Earth, global tectonics, geodynamic mantle processes in its lower and upper parts, including mantle convection, the origin of rift zones, and geodynamic processes in the lithosphere; the fundamentals of continuum mechanics, fracture rock mechanics and anisotropy of the Earths rocks, models of earthquakes and seismic wave propagations; the construction of models of the Earths mantle convection based on the temperature-depended Newtonian rheology, the infinite Prandtl number in the Boussinesq equations with temperature-depth-dependent coefficients and on the thermo-Bingham rheology.
The last convection model couples the geodynamic and the phase change processes in the core-mantle boundary and the upper parts of the Earth; the variational formulations of the model problems and corresponding finite element methods for their discrete approximation. The author provides a unified presentation of new models for fracture mechanics, propagation of seismic waves through the Earth with a broken lithosphere into a great number of plates and blocks, based on the unilateral contact problems with (or without) friction and their discrete approximations. The author shows that throughout the low-velocity channels (e.g., the asthenosphere, etc.), the transverse channel waves propagate.
Moreover, he also shows that the models of mantle convections based on the Boussinesqs approximations are special cases of models based on the (thermo-) Bingham rheology, when the threshold of plasticity (yield limit) is zero.

Описание:
This textbook on plate tectonics is designed for students in geology and geophysics to acquire in-depth knowledge of quantitative methods in plate kinematics and dynamics. Quantitative Plate Tectonics can also be used as a reference book by geoscientists who desire to expand their knowledge beyond their own specialization, or by oil-and-gas professionals and ore deposit specialists that need to investigate the geodynamic context of formation of geologic resources.
Finally, this book can be considered as a comprehensive monograph on plate tectonics, which addresses the different quantitative aspects of this broad discipline, which has been traditionally partitioned into separate or quasi-separate branches.
Additional material, available at http: //extras.springer.com, includes two computer programs for the analysis of marine magnetic anomalies and for plate kinematic modelling, as well as some important geophysical data sets and models. Solutions to the exercises are also included.
A unified quantitative description of plate tectonics, combining geological and geophysical perspectives
Professional software, manual verification examples and applications are available as additional material
Includes detailed calculations, examples, and problem sets per chapter
Well illustrated
"Dr. Schettino has produced a book covering in a rigorous way the kinematics and dynamics of plate tectonics. The fundamental physics governing geodynamic processes is discussed quantitatively, the relevant equations are clearly derived, and the implications of results are illustrated with examples and problems. The book will repay careful reading not only by postgraduate students in geophysics and geology, but also by any Earth scientist who wishes to acquire a quantitative understanding of plate tectonics."Giorgio Ranalli, Distinguished Research Professor, Department of Earth Sciences, Carleton university, Ottawa, Canada (author of "Rheology of the Earth", two editions, 1987 and 1995)
"This text gives an excellent quantitative presentation of the kinematics and the dynamics of plate tectonics that integrates many aspects of the Earth sciences and provides a powerful model of the dynamic behaviour of the Earth. The geological and geophysical processes involved in elucidating the theory are clearly illustrated through a perfectly balanced level of mathematical and physical concepts including derivation of the relevant equations, examples and problems. The book is intended for advanced undergraduates, graduate students and professional earth scientists requiring an overview of the essential processes of plate tectonics." Marco Ligi, Senior Researcher, National Research Council of Italy, Istituto di Scienze Marine, Bologna, Italy.
Описание: Modern researchers in plate tectonics may be concerned with the analysis of distributed deformation across diffuse plate boundaries and triple junction zones. These methods are then applied to the tectonic evolution of western Caribbean region which provides new ways to test and challenge the established Pacific model of Caribbean tectonics.

Описание: This classic approach explains the data at a level of 95 % precision. The authors explain data anomalies as a result of the discrepancies between spatial geodetical data and rigid kinematics in oceans. Data and its interpretation from various disciplines are pulled together in this book.
