Описание: Long Autumn, appropriately named, is a retirement home for theatricals in the autumn of their lives, where euphemism reigns supreme, together with a firm belief that elderly equals senile. Into their midst is flung Maisie May, a former music-hall star, too much of a burden for her strait-laced son and daughter-in-law, who do not find Maisie amusing. Initially the ever-cheerful, irrepressible Maisie copes with the rigours of Long Autumn in her own inimitable style, but she becomes increasingly depressed. Then one day a breezy impresario, Chris, arrives with big plans for Maisie...-4 women, 3 men
Among the fiercest opponents of the mass incarceration of Japanese Americans during World War II was journalist James "Jimmie" Matsumoto Omura. In his sharp-penned columns, Omura fearlessly called out leaders in the Nikkei community for what he saw as their complicity with the U.S. government's unjust and unconstitutional policies—particularly the federal decision to draft imprisoned Nisei into the military without first restoring their lost citizenship rights. In 1944, Omura was pushed out of his editorship of the Japanese American newspaper Rocky Shimpo, indicted, arrested, jailed, and forced to stand trial for unlawful conspiracy to counsel, aid, and abet violations of the military draft. He was among the first Nikkei to seek governmental redress and reparations for wartime violations of civil liberties and human rights.
In this memoir, which he began writing towards the end of his life, Omura provides a vivid account of his early years: his boyhood on Bainbridge Island; summers spent working in the salmon canneries of Alaska; riding the rails in search of work during the Great Depression; honing his skills as a journalist in Los Angeles and San Francisco. By the time of the attack on Pearl Harbor, Omura had already developed a reputation as one of the Japanese American Citizens League's most adamant critics, and when the JACL leadership acquiesced to the mass incarceration of American-born Japanese, he refused to remain silent, at great personal and professional cost. Shunned by the Nikkei community and excluded from the standard narrative of Japanese American wartime incarceration until later in life, Omura seeks in this memoir to correct the "cockeyed history to which Japanese America has been exposed."
Edited and with an introduction by historian Arthur A. Hansen, and with contributions from Asian American activists and writers Frank Chin, Yosh Kuromiya, and Frank Abe, Nisei Naysayer provides an essential, firsthand account of Japanese American wartime resistance.

Описание:
David shows all that is in his heart to the LORD God, and accepts the blessing God o¬ffers; by submitting and expressing appreciation to God, which is to establish his throne forever Then went king David in (to the tabernacle, where the Ark was kept?), and sat before the LORD, and he said, Who am I, O Lord GOD (that God would take time out from running the universe to consider me?)? and what is my house, that thou hast brought me hitherto (or to this place of honor)? And this was yet a small thing in thy sight (or not a di cult thing at all for you to do), O Lord GOD; but thou hast spoken also of thy servant's house for a great while to come (eternity, in fact is what the LORD God said ). And is this the manner of man (or is this what God have in store (or the final state) for man?), O Lord GOD? And what can David say more unto thee? for thou, Lord GOD, knowest thy servant. For thy word's sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all these great things, to make thy servant know them (these great things). Wherefore thou art great, O LORD God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have (learned and, ) heard with our ears. And what one (or other?) nation in the earth is like thy people, even like Israel, whom God went to redeem for a people to himself, and to make him a name, and to do for you great things and terrible (or awesome things?), for thy land, before thy people, which thou redeemedst to thee from Egypt (or the heathen world), (and) from the (other?) nations and their gods (or false gods and idols )? For thou hast confirmed to thyself thy people Israel to be a people unto thee for ever: and thou, LORD, art become their God (forever?). 2 Samuel 7:18 through 7:24
Описание: There was no provision from God for any particular leadership in Israel immediately after Joshua; only "evaluation" But Israel was fully educated of the Commandments of God at the beginning of Judges. Should we dare speculate that this no doubt began, "the Nation of Israel's" age of accountability in the eyes of God And likewise, the world also becomes accountable when it hears the Plan(s) of God, beginning from Old Times; the Plan of Salvation, and of the Atoning work of Jesus; the Gospel; the Message of the Cross? (Refer to Mark 16:15 through 16:20) All of the Old Testament's, Judeo - Christian Bible Books details the beginning and continued works being put forth of Almighty God of Creation to bring the human race into an eternal, peaceful, obedient, loving relationship with God the Creator again; after so long a time of Adam's disobedience Thus, the books of 1 & 2 Samuel are additional records, events, instructions, prophecy, and illustrations; along the way of installments describing\ promoting the process God purposed to that end of reconciling men unto Him The New Testament's, Judeo - Christian Bible Books reveal and record results, and end time prophecy, Almighty God of Creation; the God and Father of the Lord Jesus Christ, set in motion from those times of Old Testament foundations The first five (5) Books of the Judeo - Christian Bible were written by Moses, as God spoke to him face-to-face from a cloud that protected Moses and the children of Israel. The Books of Moses are Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy (collectively known as the Pentateuch). They explain the "beginning of creation, provides prophesy, and set in motion the foundational events and elements" that the LORD God planned for bringing forth His Son and sacrifice (the Lord Jesus Christ) that would accomplish the atonement: As He, the God of Creation offers Him (Jesus, the atonement) to the world in the New Testament Books and the Gospel; "with crowning emphasis on such verses as John 3:16; John 14:6; Roman 10:9 and 10:10 ..." The Apostle Paul (in the New Testament Book of Acts 13:20) estimated the time of Judges to have continued about four hundred fifty (450) years. And it is also likely that the events in the Book of Ruth occurred somewhere along this timeline of Judges, and/ or during the early days of 1 Samuel Some Bible Scholars agree with Jewish tradition that Samuel (a prophet, judge, and priestly leader of Israel) wrote the Books of Judges, Ruth, and 1 Samuel through Chapter 24. But after his death at 1 Samuel Chapter 25; opinions are that the prophets Gad and Nathan wrote subsequent events detailing 1 Samuel Chapter 25 through 2 Samuel Chapter 24. And so, the lives of the prophet Samuel, King Saul, and King David are revealed as they contribute their service to Israel, and the LORD God of Creation, as described in this book, "A Testimony of Jesus 18: 1 & 2 Samuel (Thy Throne Forever I)".

Описание: Intriguing glimpses into a cupboard full of family skeletons, together with some serious, and not so serious, detective work, combine in this unusual suspense play, to keep everyone guessing until the very last page Returning home from prison, after serving fifteen years for allegedly murdering his mother, Matthew finds his three sisters, his wife and his father waiting for him. Still protesting his innocence, Matthew's arrival prompts the question of who did kill Mother - scornful Celia, dotty Emma, cold Lavinia, flighty Gilda or even gentle Father? Описание: Staff Nurse Kitty, popular, good-natured and ever willing to help, is giving evidence at a medical tribunal investigating a patient's death. Suddenly she finds herself carried along by events that she hardly comprehends and is condemned before she can even defend herself. Support which she felt that she could count on diminishes in the cause of self-interest, and helpful deeds performed at the time are misinterpreted. Based on a true-life incident, we see the pattern of her life in flashbacks, using imaginative lighting, heightened dialogue and delightful theatrical effects.-3 women, 1 man

Although of very different backgrounds, the three women share a common fate of loneliness and frustration.3 women, 1 man
