Now back in Europe we had business in Spain and especially in Catalonia, which we enjoyed during a number of months.

Again, we took advantage of its uniquely enjoyable cake shops - bombonierie - making the most wonderful cakes - pastis in Catalan - some which are not found elsewhere.

There must be at least one thousand cake shops and cafes in Barcelona alone serving these great specialities.

In the meantime USA entered a trade war with China. China introduced crippling tariffs on American made Teslas. Again, Elon Musk took a quick decision and broke ground on a new Gigafactory in Shanghai, China in January 2019. The plan is to produce a million cars here. The Chinese market is 22 million cars a year, so the ambitious goal is not unrealistic.

Everyone ran down to the quay side to take pictures and video with their smartphones, when the dolphins appeared.

People were absolutely mesmerized by the dolphins. Here in Florida they love their wild animals and there were a lot of them on Treasure Island.

The birds we had most interaction with were the crows. They were smaller than we were used to, so they must be Fish Crows. They woke us up every morning as the sun rose, like roosters.

We tried the small toy crow we bought, with actual voice recording on them. The Fish Crows could understand the recorded message, but it was obviously a dialect.

We were amateur Europeans in this Florida paradise. We hope readers will forgive and correct any identifications we got wrong.

We only write about the species we actually encountered here, so don't look for alligators..

Often the market is opened with singing and a procession of the "Christ kind," which used to be a boy but now is mostly a local girl.

Today almost all Christmas markets have a program of processions, Christmas music and entertainment. In Austria a brass band playing local music is a must. There are also other activities such as workshops where you can see traditional handicrafts.
