Описание: Galatians by George Brunk III tracks the important role that this epistle of the apostle Paul played in Christianity's shift from being a messianic sect within Judaism to a Gentile-dominated religious movement. As a sustained defense of Jesus Christ as the center of faith, the full unity and equality of Christ's followers, and the Spirit's empowerment in the life of the believer, Galatians holds both world-changing and personally transforming power for the contemporary church. Brunk's commentary, an important contribution to biblical studies, includes historical and cultural background; shares necessary theological, sociological, and ethical meanings; and, in general, makes "the rough places plain." 336 Pages.
Greetings Dear Reader, Thank you for investing in one of my non-fiction ventures. I have always thought that there is not enough devotional writing dedicated to applying the things we all know about the Word of God. In this work I attempt to get straight to that. I am in the process of doing it for myself and feel compelled to share it with you.
This is the second book in a series of application centered commentaries. The goal is to produce tools that others may use forged out of my own journey with Christ. Feel free to join me in the discussion as we travel home and work out the truth that in Christ, we live, and move, and have our being. Aramis Thorn, writer, began his varied life in the South. After gaining many life experiences, his passion for the written word won out. Having published both researched works and fiction, his writing is as versatile as his life. Father of four children, Mr. Thorn currently resides wherever his laptop is. His main passion in life, which has led him down many paths, is to stand by the door for those who search for the way in and help them on the journey
Описание: Jarvis J. Williams argues that the Jewish martyrological ideas, codified in 2 and 4 Maccabees and in selected texts in LXX Daniel 3, provide an important background to understanding Paul’s statements about the cursed Christ in Gal. 3.13, and the soteriological benefits that his death achieves for Jews and Gentiles in Galatians. Williams further argues that Paul modifies Jewish martyrology to fit his exegetical, polemical, and theological purposes, in order to persuade the Galatians not to embrace the ‘other’ gospel of their opponents. In addition to providing a detailed and up to date history of research on the scholarship of Gal. 3.13, Williams provides five arguments throughout this volume related to the scriptural, theological and conceptual, lexical, grammatical and polemical points of contact, and finally the discontinuities between Galatians and Jewish martyrological ideas. Drawing on literature from Second Temple traditions to directly compare with Gal. 3.13, Williams adds new insights to Paul’s defense of his Torah-free-gentile-inclusive gospel, and his rhetoric against his opponents.
Описание: Paul's letter to the Galatians has been called "the Magna Charta of Christian Liberty". It has also been labeled "the short version of Romans", and "the cornerstone of the Protestant Reformation". In the early Church, as the great separation was taking place, the book of Galatians helped to clarify the doctrinal differences between "Judaism" and "Christianity". In fact, it constituted the main theme of the preaching of the Protestant Reformers in the first century and beyond.

This short work aims to clarify God's role and your role in your salvation. God's hand of grace stretches toward humanity, but will not overrule humanity's freewill to call on God and reach out to God for salvation.

Описание: Drawing on a range of ancient background for which the author is known, this commentary helps readers today to grasp the real issues that Paul was addressing. When readers understand Galatians` concrete setting, and thus the reasons that he wrote it, we better understand its relevance.

Galatians conveys the key point that Jews and Gentiles are saved, reconciled, justified with God by grace through faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and by being united with Christ in baptism.
This brief commentary is intended to be a resource for teachers of Bible classes. Where possible, the author has refrained from making too many references to technical terms, or to the Greek text. However, in a study of such depth as justification by grace through faith in Jesus Christ it is necessary to make some reference to the original language in which Paul thought and wrote as he defined the definitive theological topic of justification. Where it has been necessary to refer to Greek words the author has spelled the words out in the English alphabet for ease of reading by the non-specialist.
