Описание:

Matilda Rabinowitz’s illustrated memoir challenges assumptions about the lives of early twentieth-century women. In Immigrant Girl, Radical Woman, Rabinowitz describes the ways in which she and her contemporaries rejected the intellectual and social restrictions imposed on women as they sought political and economic equality in the first half of the twentieth century. Rabinowitz devoted her labor and commitment to the notion that women should feel entitled to independence, equal rights, equal pay, and sexual and personal autonomy.

Rabinowitz (1887–1963) immigrated to the United States from Ukraine at the age of thirteen. Radicalized by her experience in sweatshops, she became an organizer for the Industrial Workers of the World from 1912 to 1917 before choosing single motherhood in 1918. Big Bill Haywood once wrote, a book could be written about Matilda, but her memoir was intended as a private story for her grandchildren, Robbin L?g?re Henderson among them. Henderson’s black-and white-scratchboard drawings illustrate Rabinowitz’s life in the Pale of Settlement, the journey to America, political awakening and work as an organizer for the IWW, a turbulent romance, and her struggle to support herself and her child.

Описание: Matilda Wormwood's father is a mean crooked crook. And her mother's just plain stupid. They think Matilda is a nuisance who should watch more TV and read fewer books! But her lovely teacher Miss Honey thinks Matilda is a genius. Matilda has a few extraordinary tricks up her sleeve, so her horrible parents and even more horrible headmistress had better watch out. "A true genius . . . Roald Dahl is my hero" David Walliams ***Adapted for stage in 2011 into an award-winning musical by Tim Minchin.*** Roald Dahl, the best-loved of children's writers, was born in Wales of Norwegian parents. After school in England he went to work for Shell in Africa. He began to write after "a monumental bash on the head", sustained as an RAF pilot in World War II. Roald Dahl died in 1990. Quentin Blake is one of the best-known and best-loved children's illustrators and it's impossible now to think of Roald Dahl's writings without imagining Quentin Blake's illustrations.

Описание: OSMOS Magazine is "an art magazine about the use and abuse of photography," explains founder and editor Cay Sophie Rabinowitz (formerly of Parkett and Fantom). The magazine is divided into thematic sections--some traditional, such as "Portfolio," "Stories" and "Reportage"--and others more idiosyncratic, such as "Eye of the Beholder," where gallerists discuss the talents they showcase; and "Means to an End," on the side effects of non-artistic image production. This issue, OSMOS Magazine #12, with a stunning cover by conceptual photographer Bing Wright, features an essay by Peter Weibel on interface technology in the film work of Kathryn Bigelow, a portfolio on Peter Funch, Simon Leung's survey of recent work by Lincoln Tobier, and rare documentation about Ursula Block's infamous record store and gallery, gelbe MUSIK, founded in 1981 as the Berlin outlet for experimental sound art and music.

Описание: If you have even spent a significant amount of time with any kids between the ages of 2 and 13, you know that their thoughts are markedly different than adults. Their honesty and insight is still unvarnished and unfiltered - and oftentimes hilarious. For over 30 years, Dr. Jay Rabinowitz, a respected pediatrician based in Parker, Colorado, has been on the receiving end of some of the funniest and most fascinating thoughts shared by his young patients. Many were so hilarious that he started to write them down, as well as send them to his patient's families in emails and newsletters. The response was so great that he decided to publish this book of some of his favorite patient interactions. Parents, family, teachers, or anyone who just likes a good laugh will love Cute Kidbits.
