Описание:
Sudden death is an uncommon condition. But when it occurs, especially in a young person, the acute loss can generate a substantial amount of grief with a great sense of disbelief. This mysterious and dreadful condition instils much fear and anxiety into the living, and more specifically for family members and friends. Understandably, the apprehension is brought about by the unexpectedness of the event and uncertainty of the consequences. The feeling of uneasiness is largely attributed to the lack of information regarding this condition. However in recent years, several causes of sudden death have been clarified. Treatment modalities have improved and reduced the occurrence of dying suddenly.
This book is meant for anyone who wants to know more about sudden death. It aims to diminish its terror by explaining the various conditions that predispose individuals to sudden death and ways which may prevent it from occurring.

Описание: This book draws on the established European guidelines from the ESC that address the key issues in sudden cardiac death, such as identifying individuals at risk prior to an episode of a ventricular tachyarrhythmia or a sudden cardiac arrest, and responding in a timely fashion to the person suffering the event out-of-the-hospital.

Описание: Sudden death is probably the greatest challenge facing modem cardiology today. This book is an updating of the problem of sudden death from a multifactorial standpoint. Risk markers and triggering mechanicsms of sudden death are reviewed, with special emphasis on the role of electrical instability, ischemia and depressed ventricular function.

Описание: Pathology of Sudden Cardiac Death provides a comprehensive review of cardiovascular disorders. While sudden cardiac death could primarily be seen as an arrhythmogenic event, this actually represents the minority of cases.
Описание: In Harch of 1980, we organized the first symposium on how to evaluate new antiarrhythmic agents in which the participants included members of the Cardio-Renal Division of the Food and Drug Administration, academic investigators from the United States and Abroad and directors and imple- mentors of pharmacological research representing the pharmaceutical industry. By bringing together all three elements, it was hoped that better communication and under- standing would ensue to more rapidly bring new cardiac agents to the American public. This goal was important since a rather limited number of antiarrhythmic agents were and are currently available to treat patients with such disorders in the United States. These agents are needed not only for the treatment of patients with sustained ventricular tachyarrhythmias which produce life-threatening hemodynamic consequences but also and in fact more potentially important as a prophylactic measure in the high risk patient subject to sudden cardiac death. This book represents the proceedings of the third of these Symposiums whose purpose was to evaluate the clinical research methodology and models used in the evaluation of ne" antiarrhythmic agents for not only acute therapeutic inter- vention but also for the prophylaxis of sudden cardiac death. In addition, new devices have evolved over the past few years that can detect and treat life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias and the evaluation of efficacy and safety of these devices is detailed.
