Our society and our world, no matter the region nor the time period, have always been in need of improvement. Even more, nowadays, as we all can see. There has been a decline in civility which in turn has led to a spike in cruelty and inhumanity.
Poetry has the ability to help improve that situation. Improvement can be made by connecting people to poems detailing the sort of ideas and actions civility involves. Bringing people back to the sort of values they were taught by parents and teachers when they were young is another purpose these poems possess.
Ultimately, these poems are important because of the innate power poetry has to both influence and deeply affect people. They will help spread civility and remind society of why it is important. After all, we must regain what we have lost. These poems will help begin that process.
