Описание:

According to the Map presents evidence supporting an interpretation of the design of the pyramids at Giza as a map and a message. Three levels of abstraction will be employed to argue the pyramids map frameworks upon which phenomenology, psychology, and ontology reveal themselves as fundamental to our understanding of the human situation. The perspective of the presentation is phenomenology.

Because the map is also a representation of a more fundamental conceptual geometry that could only have been designed by someone with knowledge of the multidimensionality of the cosmos, there are essentially two messages encoded in the map: theres a message about humanitys situation represented by conceptual frameworks the deciphered map illustrates, and theres a message regarding the maps authorship were compelled to reflect upon. The map is presented as extraterrestrial in origin because if were right about its meaning, then no other explanation seems likely.

Excerpt from the Preface:

Were not suggesting someone other than ancient Egyptians built the pyramids, nor are we questioning the ability of an ancient civilization to accumulate sufficient knowledge and experience required to engineer a structure as spectacular as the Great Pyramid. Whats in doubt is the implication that ancient Egyptians discovered the conceptual frameworks and the underlying conceptual geometry supporting those frameworks. Its hard to transcend the suspicion that knowledge of the order of things required to make those discoveries is beyond what an ancient civilization might have acquired. Reconciling knowledge encoded in the design of the pyramid complex with whats known about ancient Egyptians may turn out to be a source of debate for those unable to embrace the stretch in plausiblity of extraterrestrial influence, but it wont change the message.

Our goals are to turn the suggestion of an extraterrestrial message into a conclusion while highlighting research that may be the key to completely understanding what Earths visitors were trying to tell us. To achieve these goals, the argument for extraterrestrial visitation is presented at a level called popular science. Consistency with this level of presentation requires abstractions that may take some getting used to, but anyone mildly familiar with object oriented thinking required in computer science, the kind of graphical analysis employed in economics, or reflections of the type common in philosophy should find the material easy to assimilate.

The map encoded in the pyramids is interpreted from the perspective of phenomenology. To support the interpretation, a significant portion of the book is dedicated to using the pyramids to conceptualize a phenomenological situation of general interest. Chapter one starts by introducing the context and approach necessary to achieve the goals outlined above. Chapter two introduces prerequisites essential to understanding the map and uses them to interpret the pyramids from the perspective of perception of (an object). Chapter three builds on chapter two by integrating consciousness into a phenomenological situation presenting itself as consciousness of (perception of (an object)). Chapter three, the longest chapter, is where everything comes together; its where the Great Pyramid is used to provide additional insight into what the phenomenological situation reveals. By the end of chapter three it will be hard to deny the design of the map could be extraterrestrial in origin. Finally, chapter four presents the authors recollection of personal events in an attempt to provide insight into how this research came to be.

Описание:

Growing up loving to hunt, Bruce LaChance decided to seek his greatest adventure yet: to hunt a giant brown bear on his own. What followed was a tale not only of adventure but of tragedy and redemption through faith.

On leave from his US Navy base on Kodiak Island, twenty-year-old LaChance set out in late September 1964 for the extreme danger of the Alaskan wilderness. He struggled alone for nearly two weeks, during which he lost thirty pounds and an inch in height. Along the way, he never lost faith in himself, however. Later in life, he would again find himself lost but in a different kind of wilderness, though one every bit as deadly--that of alcoholism. Only through belief in a Higher Power was he able to survive both wildernesses, and in so doing, find contentment, faith, and true love.

Lost and Found in Alaska: A True Story of Survival and Miracles on Kodiak Island...and Elsewhere will help every reader become aware of his or her Higher Power. That Power resides within them, and always has, and if they are willing to surrender to it, they can find serenity.

Описание:

From the 1780s to the 1820s, Kodiak Island, the first capital of Imperial Russia's only overseas colony, was inhabited by indigenous Alutiiq people and colonized by Russians. Together, they established an ethnically mixed "kreol" community. Against the backdrop of the fur trade, the missionary work of the Russian Orthodox Church, and competition among Pacific colonial powers, Gwenn A. Miller brings to light the social, political, and economic patterns of life in the settlement, making clear that Russia's modest colonial effort off the Alaskan coast fully depended on the assistance of Alutiiq people.

In this context, Miller argues, the relationships that developed between Alutiiq women and Russian men were critical keys to the initial success of Russia's North Pacific venture. Although Russia's Alaskan enterprise began some two centuries after other European powers—Spain, England, Holland, and France—started to colonize North America, many aspects of the contacts between Russians and Alutiiq people mirror earlier colonial episodes: adaptation to alien environments, the "discovery" and exploitation of natural resources, complicated relations between indigenous peoples and colonizing Europeans, attempts by an imperial state to moderate those relations, and a web of Christianizing practices. Russia's Pacific colony, however, was founded on the cusp of modernity at the intersection of earlier New World forms of colonization and the bureaucratic age of high empire. Miller's attention to the coexisting intimacy and violence of human connections on Kodiak offers new insights into the nature of colonialism in a little-known American outpost of European imperial power.
