We have created a very detailed summary and analysis based on The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood, and we'd like to share it with YOU
In the near future in the former United States, the people of Gilead exist under strict, puritanical laws. Due to a toxic environment and science experimentation, male infertility threatens to obliterate the population. Commanders of the Faithful, the elite men who founded Gilead, assign themselves both Wives and Handmaids in an effort to produce viable offspring. Each woman conducts herself according to her station. The Wives garden and the Handmaids submit to sexual relations with their Commander each month. Marthas cook and clean, and Aunts train new Handmaids and attend births. The rigid social structure prevents friendships and even human touch. Offred's name implies property belonging to the Commander named Fred. She longs to break free from the stifling constraints of her new existence and locate her husband and daughter. As the weeks pass, she becomes better acquainted with her walking partner, Ofglen. A resistance group called Mayday wants Offred's assistance in spying on the Commander. Meanwhile, he begins breaking Gileadean rules by spending evenings alone with Offred. Tensions rise as Ofglen becomes more insistent. The Commander takes advantage of his authority over his Handmaid, and the driver named Nick seduces Offred. When the Commander's Wife arranges a tryst between Nick and Offred in the hopes of producing a baby for herself, their love affair threatens both of their lives.

Описание: Is massive change coming in the form of...? THE FOURTH TURNING?
Read on and decide for yourself Immerse yourself in this summary and analysis of The Fourth Turning by William Strauss and Neil Howe. Let me give you the list of Strauss and Howe's popular book: The Fourth Turning insists that events in history follow a predictable cycle. By looking at Anglo-American history over an extremely long span, one can conclude that there are in fact distinct cycles that can be measured and described. Each of these cycles is made up of turnings, or time of societal change. They each typically last around 20 years. Reaching back to the Etruscans and early Roman Empire, the authors explain how these civilizations first linked the cycles of human life and the cycles of history to the passing of the seasons. They explain that a year passes through four seasons. There are birth and generation in the spring and summer, and harvest and death in the fall and winter. They explain that the span of human generations and empires are similar. Strauss and Howe describe how a saeculum (an approximately 80-year period) encompasses four historical/cultural rhythms. This idea comes from the early Romans - their empire itself was believed to be destined for a fixed number of 100 years and indeed the Roman Empire did follow this prediction. They even took into account accidents of nature and outside invasion. Each of the four cycles contains different generations, which each have their own distinct place in their civilization's drama.

Описание: IMPORTANT NOTE TO READERS: This is a summary and analysis companion book based on Red Notice: A True Story of High Finance, Murder, and One Man's Fight for Justice by Bill Browder. This is meant to accompany the original text. We strongly encourage you purchase the original book as well.
Do you know Bill Browder's REAL story?
Red Notice: A True Story of High Finance, Murder, and One Man's Fight for Justice by Bill Browder draws readers into the unfamiliar territory of the former Soviet Union. The first chapter rapidly creates tension and intrigue, and then the author pulls back and begins with his own life story before slowly building to the climax. What follows is a breathtaking expos of corruption, torture, and murder against the backdrop of the cutthroat world of international investing.
The book fits the creative nonfiction genre because Browder employs the typically fiction-driven narrative arc with lengthy exposition and a stunning climax. One clue to the genre is Bill's recreation of lengthy conversations, physical descriptions of people and places, and the use of a timepiece to drive tension. Chapter one, "Persona Non Grata," places the reader during a smoky, gaudy area with nothing however a ticker to tick away fifteen hours of detainment.
Once Bill concludes his first, high-action chapter, he rewinds time to tell his grandfather's story. The story grinds slowly through Bill's father's life, then Bill's. Excitement only resumes once Bill runs into his first scandal while working at Maxwell Communications. His career trajectory takes him across Europe, and he finally settles in Moscow, Russia.
At times, Bill's level of naivet about Russian corruption defies belief. He cannot conceive of a reason for any official to bribe, cheat, or steal even with evidence of each. He creates a careful persona of the shy, unassuming American with rose-colored glasses who becomes a folk hero. At the same time, he reveals a razor-sharp mind that focuses on a company's vulnerabilities and exploits them for profit. He complains about the oligarchy manipulating Russia's voucher system to get rich; meanwhile, he seems unaware that he has just done the same. Bill is a numbers man, and his numbers make him very wealthy.
That is not to say his story rings false. On the contrary, the case against the Interior Ministry, the Russian prison system, tax officials, and Vladimir Putin strikes the reader as incontestable. Browder steps cautiously from one piece of evidence to the next, does not shy away from naming names, and includes enough information for an interested reader to locate the evidence on the Internet.

2) References and further readings based on Browder's case

Описание: Summary of Steven Levitsky and Daniel Ziblatt's How Democracies Die
NOTE TO READERS This is a summary and analysis companion book based on Steven Levitsky and Daniel Ziblatt's How Democracies Die. It is meant to enhance your original reading experience, not supplement it. We strongly encourage you to purchase the original book as well: https: //tinyurl.com/y9tbd898
How Democracies Die explains the historical establishment of democracy in the United States and what the United States has done to preserve it. It also gives a study into the rise and fall of democracies in other countries. There is the layman description of the fall of democracy through warfare and the undermining of democracy by the rejection of established historical norms. How Democracies Die spells out a detailed first year of Donald Trump's administration and how he has undermined U.S. Democracy by swaying from American norms, guardrails, and ridding it of its gatekeepers.
The book describes authoritarianism and how other countries have fallen to it by default or through force. Now the United States is on the line. Warring political parties have allowed an authoritarian leader to slip into the presidential seat and manipulate administration. Media is under attack. Appointed officials are fired. Social unrest is exacerbated. The list goes on and on and this book spells out each focal point.
Although the United States has taken steps toward the demise of democracy, this book reveals the danger signs of a democratic decline and the steps toward recovering democracy.
Democracy in the United States needs to reform. The norms that were once respected need to be reinstated within the political system and integrated into society. This will allow diversity to exist in peace, increase economic stability, and secure an American democracy for many years to come.

NOTE TO READERS: This is a fan-based summary and analysis of White Fragility: Why it's so Hard for White People To Talk About Racism by Robin DiAngelo. This is meant to enhance your original reading experience, not supplement it. We strongly encourage you to purchase DiAngelo's original text here: https: //amzn.to/2Qi42TA
Get ready to take a long, hard look in the mirror.
Robin DiAngelo wrote this book to deconstruct the notion of racism in America today. She proposes that racism is not isolated incidences of violence perpetrated by white nationalist racists, but rather an entrenched societal condition in America used to oppress people of color to this day.
White Fragility is the term she uses to explain why white Americans have such a hard time admitting that we hold pre-programmed racial biases. Just the suggestion that we participate in systems of discrimination is enough to make us defensive, reactive, and angry. DiAngelo argues that we need to confront and work through this discomfort to exact any real, lasting change in our society.
At its core, DiAngelo's statement is this:
As white people born into white households in America, we begin our socialization in racial matters on day 1. Regardless of words talked at us about racial tolerance, we absorb instead the lessons we see through actions, school, the media, etc. We absorb the values we see reflected in the world around us. The world around us, fifty years after the Civil Rights Movement, is still one in which white people experience institutionalized privilege and people of color are systematically victimized, disregarded, and feared.
DiAngelo dismantles all your defensive white arguments. She says it is just not possible to be free from prejudice. It is by denying prejudice, discrimination, and societal racism that we permit that racism to be perpetuated. We have to sit with our white fragility, work through the discomfort, and try to make progress in the discourse of race. DiAngelo challenges that if you are not actively engaged in the racial discourse, you are a part of the problem. Refusal to shine a light on the experience of people of color in our country is what perpetuates the dark places we don't want to acknowledge.

In this detailed summary and analysis of Ship of Fools: How a Selfish Ruling Class is Bringing America to the Brink of Revolution By Tucker Carlson.
Describes our out-of-control government perfectly
It was a gesture of contempt, a howl of rage, the end result of decades of selfish.
Unwise decisions made by selfish and unwise leaders.
A Democratic Republic cannot work if there is no middle class.
Tucker Carlson describes our out-of-control government perfectly with an analogy from Plato's The Republic: You are on a ship in the middle of the ocean when ". . . the crew has become incompetent. They have no idea how to sail . . . As waves wash over the deck, they're awarding themselves majestic new titles and raising their own salaries. You look on in horror, helpless and desperate. You have nowhere to go."
Could this be why America elected Donald Trump? Could it be that the average American was tired of the elitists running the country? "Trump's election wasn't about Trump. It was a throbbing middle finger in the face of America's ruling class. It was a gesture of contempt, a howl of rage, the end result of decades of selfish and unwise decisions made by selfish and unwise leaders."
The changes in the way politics operate in this country began with the decline of the middle class. A Democratic Republic cannot work if there is no middle class. For the first time in our history as a nation, the United States is no longer a middle-class country. We have truly become a nation of the haves and the have-nots, with a quickly dwindling middle class.

Описание: Ready or not, the 21st century is here Are you prepared for it?
Note to Readers: This is a fan-based summary and analysis companion book, reviewing 21 Lessons for the 21st Century by Yuval Noah Harari. This text is meant to enhance your original reading experience, not supplement it. You are strongly encouraged to purchase the original book here: https: //amzn.to/2N52Jov
While author Yuval Noah Harari focused on the past and the future in his previous best selling books, his latest release, 21 Lessons for the 21st Century, addresses the urgent issues the world currently faced with, and the radical changes that await us in the immediate future.
Harari focuses the first half of his book covering large swaths of political and technological advances and issues that have arisen out of the past and emphasizes our dire need to change their status quo in order to adapt to what awaits us just around the corner. Harari focuses particularly on the looming impacts of infotech and biotech, noting that neither today's widely adopted liberal worldview nor the greater democratic system, are structured in such a way to be able to manage and maintain any control over imminent technological advances.
In the second half of the book, Harari gradually goes from a global scale to a communal, and finally a personal scale of seeing -and grappling with- the modern world. He talks about the fact that human emotions have become the real leader of today (offering strong warnings against further progression of this), and provides myriad suggestions on dispelling the common fears of our present day, such as terrorism, immigration, nationalism, and more. Finally, he ends with a chapter devoted to explaining how he was able to personally find freedom in a world filled with so many constantly changing complexities.
21 Lessons for the 21st Century attempts to cover the nearly two dozen topics that already have, currently do, or will affect all people on our planet. It warns readers just how much looming changes - technological, political, and ecological - will alter what we have always known to be true.
In this detailed summary and analysis of 21 Lessons for the 21st Century by Yuval Noah Harari, you'll indulge in interesting topics, like:
Why there will probably be fewer jobs for human beings in the future.
The big, bold plans Facebook has, and how they could affect you.
Why everyone should meditate.
