- A time-bender is pursued by government-types in black SUV's who want to trap and "study" her abilities. But she turns the table on their advanced electronics to escape and make their gizmo's worthless.
- When a spirit guide is required to be attorney for the defense, she is conflicted. Since she agrees with many of the charges. Her plaintiff: Humanity itself. The penalty if found guilty: complete eradication.
- Our time-bender returns, as the government agents have forced her into hiding. But they are also now tracking the rest of the Ghost Hunter team. So this begins an all-out war, which is over before they knew they were under attack...
- A government experiment goes, and a revenge-driven immortal finds himself uncontrollably radioactive once a year as result. The birthday of him and his dead brother. Only the Ghost Hunter team can keep him from destroying huge areas...
- An ear-wig was the clue to solving this mystery. And uncovering a secret that the ghost herself didn't know she had.

Excerpt:
I WAS MINDING MY OWN business when they found me, flying among the clouds without an airplane.
One of the perks of being an immortal spirit-guide. I could always simply "phase" from here to there instantly, but I liked to fly. Easier than any bird. I only put a little energy shield against the wind and weather (otherwise her clothing soils and her hair gets "ratty"). But it let the fresh air through (although I heated it a little if it felt too cool.)
The day was fantastic. Bright sunshine streamed through the cloud gaps, and the arbitrary divisions in the land ownership below made a varied patchwork of the land. Different crops, tillage, and wilder areas were always interesting to look over from a "what if" and "how come" viewpoint. Much like John wrote his stories.
And that was where I was headed, to his little writer's cabin in the Midwest. I had some time off, and enough so I could luxuriate in this slow method of travel.
For all the history I'd lived through, it still pointed out that the more things changed, the more they stayed the same. Humans hadn't changed much in 10,000 years, if at all. And even those of us who'd managed to "evolve" into spirit-beings, we were still very much the humans that we'd started out as. Older, more experienced, but wiser was whether we really wanted to learn from all that experience.
And I'd get twinges of sadness reflecting like that. Because not all of the spirit-guides I'd known had made it. Just as gods and goddesses, just because you're immortal doesn't mean you can't be killed...

Описание:
I'd been caught in a cross-fire. And just got saved from bleeding out.
Now my shape-shifting was on hold until I healed. But I was stuck in human shape, having to re-learn the human experience.
I don't know when I first appeared on Earth. Before recorded time somewhere. And for the last few centuries or so, I'd been happy as a library cat.
But then I got bored, and started helping out with simple missions.
Good thing they got to me in time on this one.
Now I had to re-learn what it is to be human. Me, the cat-goddess.
But I'd never be able to shift back to my native form without shooting pains up that arm - until I could understand human relationships - ones that always left the scholars of the ages mystified.
Easy-peasy for a goddess. Maybe.
Excerpt:
The knives and fireballs were aimed right toward us as we arrived. Sent from rock-outcrops in the darkness beyond our glow-balls. An ambush.
Sal and Jude's shields came up, but John had already gotten himself nicked. He was holding on to his other arm with his free hand, blood seeping between his fingers. We were pinned down.
So I sent to Sal - "Let me out. I'll hold them while you get John to safety."
"You sure?"
"We're sitting ducks otherwise."
Sal nodded to me and to Jude.
I leapt out and multiplied with alternate selves, borrowed from multiple time-lines. All of us tiger-sized now. And we each held the small groups in stasis. Something I could do indefinitely.
Sal and Jude took John out of there. The attackers and my multiple me's we were now all in a Mexican stand-off.
Until their reinforcements came in. One of my other future selves went down with a bad slice and a lot of blood. I signaled the others to retreat and take her with them. Then shrunk down to my smallest cat size and bounced out of harm's way to a small rock outcropping that was out of their firing-sights. Mostly.
It was just a nick, but I wasn't going to hold that blood in with my tiny paws. And anything larger that had regular human-type hands would stick out enough to become a target.
About that time, Sal came back with Jude on point - rapid-firing lightning bolts with hopes to fry their equipment, or at least make them duck.
For the second we needed, it worked, Sal scooped me up in her arms and Jude took us out of there. Just as the firing started up again. But we weren't there.
- - - -
I remember a gurney being wheeled somewhere, and Sal holding me down on it with both hands as I wrestled in pain. Sal's hands were red with my blood, her face worried. Then someone got a very small mask over my feline nose and mouth and I was out...

It's not often these days that you read about a real goddess.
One who was a lover of Ulysses - and saved his butt more than he would care to admit (and never told his biographer.) And one who influenced history for good and bad in more ways than you know.
But only the very worst stories about how she looked and acted have been passed down through the ages.
So she kidnapped a writer to tell it straight. Only he had to write this as fiction, since no one would believe him anyway.
This is all about her and that author. All of what happened between them and because of them isn't chronicled here. But this short collection is a good start.
Extracted from the numerous episodes of the Ghost Hunters series.
And it begins, as we said above, with his disappearance...
This Anthology Containing:
- Harpy - Harpy's Desires - Harpy Redux - Sister Mine - Time Bent
And a complete Book Universes Notes addition - so you know all the characters and miss no subtle asides or Easter Eggs...
Excerpt:
"JOHN, YOU CAN CALL me Harpy." The voice woke me.
I was tightly bound to a support column in some old, dank and stone-lined room. Where exactly, I didn't know. I had on my dungarees, work boots, red cotton t-shirt under my canvas jacket. Like I'd just been air-lifted from the pasture on my farm.
Facing me was a woman with wings. A gorgeous woman with strong, beautiful wings.
And her voice was like poured honey over buttered toast on a hot day. Smooth, lustrous, golden.
I'd rather call her siren. Especially when I looked into her eyes. Vibrant green, like the glowing color of fireflies. But steady, piercing.
Harpy stepped closer to me and I could see more detail in her thin, nearly sheer top. It seemed like a dancing leotard. Her long legs took her closer to me in graceful barefoot paces. A tail of cloth-like drape, like the sweep of tail feathers behind, barely grazed the floor and raised small puffs of dust as she strode toward me.
"Why Harpy, why not Siren? With a face and eyes like that, you can have any lover you want." I said.
"Oh, and I have. They all loved me and went to their death for me. Too human. Short lifespans, inflated egos, puppy-dog eyes and utter devotion." The Harpy sighed.
"Why do you call yourself 'Harpy'," I asked. "The usual pictures are of an ugly monster with really only a woman's face, the rest are parts of animals."
Harpy sighed. "Probably the same reason vampires and other creatures have such bad reputations. You can see my wings and yes I have claws." She held up two fingers from one hand where long talons suddenly extended from her fingertips, then retracted as quickly. "But that is no different than cats, really.
"Practically, I can even hide my wings and walk among humans, the same as I've done for centuries. I've passed royalty and commoner alike and no one has known except when I wanted them to." She sighed again and looked off into space.
"May I ask why you brought me here and why I am tied up so tight?" I asked.
"Because I want you to tell my side of the story..."

Описание:
This anthology of stories all are around the fact that animals can talk.
Every bit as well as humans.
It's humans that have the real problem - listening.
There are probably a dozen-dozen reasons why we humans won't simply open up our ears and hear them.
It doesn't matter what type of animal - dog, cat, cow, crow, coyote.
The other simple fact is: people don't listen, so they don't hear. Voices which are every bit as clear as someone standing next to your ear.
Because you don't listen with your ears - you listen with your mind.
And then you can hear them clearly. No matter what species. No matter their size or lack of it.
Until you can start to hear them, here's the next best thing...
Stories about humans who can hear all the voices around them - or perhaps just one.
If you can't hear them yourself, you can at least read about them.
This Anthology Containing:
- Voices by J. R. Kruze - Max Says No by J. R. Kruze - A Nervous Butt by J. R. Kruze - A Long Wait for Santa by C. C. Brower - A Dog Named Kat by J. R. Kruze - Cats Typing Romance by R. L. Saunders - When The Wild Calls by C. C. Brower
Excerpt:
THAT MORNING I ROLLED over, bleary and tousle-headed to see my dog Wilma looking back at me.
"Good morning," the thought came to my head. "If you'd lay off those night-caps we can get your weight down and get a you laid more often."
The idea of this brought a smile to my face.
"Now that I have your attention, let's go for a walk before breakfast. You've got time before you have to go to your work." The thought had a some sense to it. "Of course it's sensible. Now get up, we have to get going. I'll wait until you put on your clothes."
At that my golden-haired red heeler, Wilma, stood and went to wait by the door to the room. "Come on, get up. Let's go." And just stared at me.
I looked at the clock, saw I had a half-hour before I usually got up to make my breakfast, and rolled over.
It only took a couple of tugs before my blanket and top sheet were on the floor.
That got my attention. I sat up. My dog let go of the bed clothes corner he had been pulling on and smiled.
"What are you doing?" I asked, looking at her through my bleary eyes.
"Taking care of my human," came the reply. "Come on. I meant what I said. It's time to change your habits to make you happier."
Couldn't argue with that. Especially now that I was awake. I swiveled my feet over to the floor and felt the cool carpet underneath them.
"Good boy Let's get those sweats on. You can do it " Wilma was encouraging.
Of course I resented it. Sounded like I was in training for something.
"Of course you're in training. Humans have to be trained every day of their lives. I'm not going to be around forever, so you've got to learn to survive so your next Master will be able to pick up where I left off and hopefully help you retire in grace." Wilma cocked her head at me, wondering if I got it.
"This is all just a bit new. How, I mean, why, what..." I quit talking and just sent her my thoughts, jumbled as they were.
"Now you're getting it. We can have all sorts of discussions once you quit using your human speech. So backward and clumsy." Wilma rose and again walked to the door. "Sweats. Socks. Tennies."
