Описание: When seventeen-year-old seamstress, Josephine Nimetz, agrees to take care of a WWI amputee in a remote Alaskan lodge, there's enough friction to melt the Mendenhall Glacier. Her position is only until June, and it pays well enough to overlook the hardship of managing a rustic home and a shell-shocked veteran.
Geoff Chambers makes it clear that he isn't too fond of the "runt" sent to take care of his needs, nor of her painful mistakes. Dealing with a depressed and addicted veteran, pushes Josephine to the brink of leaving, if not for the money her salary brings.
But Josephine is a perfectionist, determined to get Geoff back on his feet-figuratively...Although, sending a rich, handsome veteran back into society may cost Josephine the man she has grown to love.

Описание:
It is August 2012. The Stewart Gang trials are over. Most of the gang members are behind bars and their leader, Lord Philip Stewart, is dead, hanged by his fellow prisoners during a riot. Julia Donaldson's police team have brought all the gang's police and political protectors to book - except one, the Prime Minister, Sir Marcus Greenway. Julia confronts him with the evidence against him and he agrees to resign.
Now a race against time begins as his enemies close in on Sir Marcus - the Police who want to arrest and charge him, the Jihadists who want to assassinate him, a survivor of the Stewart Gang who wants to kill him, and a determined reporter who wishes to expose him and his family as being involved in corruption. Facing this threat, the politicians around Sir Marcus and the Greenway family circle the wagons.
But - is this enough to protect the Prime Minister as the western World comes under a sustained terrorist assault by the Jihadists inspired by their leader, code named Asif? And all the time the niece of Philip Stewart is busy resurrecting the Stewart gang under her leadership, hotly pursued by Julia and her team. Will Julia find Elizabeth Stewart and will the Intelligence Community find and eliminate Asif before either can do real harm? And what will happen to Sir Marcus Greenway?

Описание: While our church doctrine teaches that men and women are co-laborers and co-heirs in Christ, does our practice reflect that truth? And what do we lose in our failures? To serve effectively together as brothers and sisters, we must be able to speak about good and hard things. These essays by our sisters and mothers in the church can help us know, grow and do better. Here are redemptive celebrations, gentle corrections, and winsome invitations from the diversity of women God has given as gifts to the church body. Read and listen well so that may we better serve each other and God's kingdom.
Описание: The world-renowned Peruvian poet Cesar Vallejo (1892-1938) was also a journalist, essayist, novelist and would-be dramatist. The study of his life and work has encountered problems since the 1950s, stemming from the fact that half of his writing was published posthumously under editorship of doubtful accuracy. The matter is further complicated in that his non-poetic work has been neglected in favour of his verse. A Struggle between Art and Politics reviews the evidence -- literary and historical -- now reliably to hand, and assesses the often conflicting body of opinion his work has generated. Three essential questions are pertinent: Where should Vallejo be placed in the canon of twentieth-century modernism? What effect did his mid-life conversion to Communism have on his writing? How should his prose fiction, journalism and essays be assessed in relation to his poetry? There are few writers whose literary output follows the twists and turns of their lives more closely than Cesar Vallejos. This new, comparative study maps his career onto the cultural, social, political and historical backdrop to his life in Peru, France, Spain and Russia, and analyses his writings in the light of his life circumstances. Vallejos journey from Peru, the cultural "periphery", to the "centre" of inter-war Paris, his experience of European capitalism during the Depression, and the confrontation of Communism and Fascism, ultimately played out in the Spanish Civil War, forced him to wage a personal struggle to reconcile art with life and politics. This challenge is fought out in different ways in his various writings, but nowhere more movingly, passionately and humanely than in his posthumous poetry.
