Innovative research of 'Islam at work' in geographical and social contexts Modern Islamic Thinking and Activism presents a series of scholarly papers in relation to Islamic thinking, activism, and politics in both the West and the Middle East. The reader will apprehend that Islam is not the monolithic religion so often depicted in the media or (earlier) in the academic world. The Islamic world is more than a uniform civilization with a set of petrified religious prescriptions and an outdated view on political and social organization. The contributions show the dynamics of 'Islam at work' in different geographical and social contexts. By treating the working of Islamic thinking and of Islamic activism on a practical level, Modern Islamic Thinking and Activism includes innovative research and fills a significant gap in existing work.

Описание:
Everyday Life Practices of Muslims in Europe explores how Muslims give meaning to Islam on a day-to-day basis. The contributions look at concrete practices, identities, memories, and normalities in daily Muslim life and provide insights to the complexities of identities.
They examine Muslims' use of and construction of spaces, daily practices, forms of interaction, and modes of thinking in different areas, resulting in a thorough analysis and framework of Muslims' day-to-day life through topical chapters on food, space, entertainment, marriage, and mosque, covering the extent of hybridity and the preservation of religious-ethnic particularities.

Описание: Long, ago, upon an alternate earth, around 9th millennia B.C., on the continent of Africa, dark magic, and monsters of legend exist. For thousands of years, a malevolently powerful voodoo master held their Motherland, in his firm evil grip. It was an era of fear and doom until the leaders of two dominant tribes joined clans, defeated the immortal voodoo king, and took the Dark Grimoires (his most extensive book of supreme dark magic). The Navitazi Clan, a people of fearless warriors, and the Assasin Clan, masters of the dark arts, became the guardians of Africa and the safe keepers of the Dark Grimoires. This story takes place around 5000 B.C. in the kingdom of Ardhi Anasa. The descendants of the ancient clan leaders, Princess Icya Assasin, and the Twin Souls (Prince Saka Navitazi and Thundar, an African gorilla), find themselves fighting for survival as an ancient evil that they had only read about in books threatens to destroy everything they love. If this trio of unconventional teenagers is to save all they hold dear to them, they must sacrifice their adolescence, tap into the power of God himself and become the protectors they were always destined to be.

How are we to understand Europe's post-migrant Islam on the one hand and indigenous, anti-Islamic movements on the other? What impact will religion have on the European secular world and its regulation? How do social and economic transitions on a transnational scale challenge ethnic and religious identifications?
These questions are at the very heart of the debate on multiculturalism in present-day Europe and are addressed by the authors in this book. Through the lens of post-migrant societies, manifestations of identity appear in pluralized, fragmented, and deterritorialized forms. This new European multiculturalism calls into question the nature of boundaries between various ethnic-religious groups, as well as the demarcation lines within ethnic-religious communities. Although the contributions in this volume focus on Islam, ample attention is also paid to Christianity, Judaism, and Hinduism.
The authors present empirical data from cases in Turkey, Germany, France, Spain, the United Kingdom, Poland, Norway, Sweden, and Belgium, and sharpen the perspectives on the religious-ethnic manifestations of identity in the transnational context of twenty-first-century Europe.

Описание: '… the author uses color drawings in two-dimensions (2D) and three-dimensions (3D) to help the reader better understand what is happening in the phase diagram. Examples of ternary compounds include important alloys such as stainless steels (Fe-Cr-Ni). These illustrations greatly help one to visualize important points described in each diagram and clarifies difficult processes by also including a step-by-step description of key points through the graph … For material scientists and engineers who need to understand phase diagrams, this book can provide you with that basic knowledge that will make you an expert at reading these sometimes very complicated graphs.'

Phase diagrams are a MUST for materials scientists and engineers (MSEs). However, understanding phase diagrams is a difficult task for most MSEs. The audience of this book are young MSEs who start learning phase diagrams and are supposed to become specialists and those who were trained in fields other than materials science and engineering but are involved in research and/or development of materials after they are employed.Ternary phase diagrams presented in Chapter 4 are far more complex than binary phase diagrams. For this reason, ternary phase diagrams are nowadays less and less taught. However, in ceramics and semiconductors ternary phase diagrams become more and more important. Recent software provides necessary information to handle ternary phase diagrams. However, needless to say, without fundamental knowledge of ternary phase diagrams it is impossible to understand ternary phase diagrams correctly. In this book ternary phase diagrams are presented in a completely original way, with many diagrams illustrated in full color. In this book the essence of phase diagrams is presented in a user-friendly manner. This book is expected to be a Bible for MSEs.
