The text includes skills assessments, personal accounts, and best practices to help students understand and apply various communication strategies.

The second edition features real-life scenarios that demonstrate the power and potential consequences of social media and additional coverage on difficult conversations, face-to-face communication, and practical application strategies within each chapter.

Deborah K. London earned her Ph.D. in interpersonal and health communication from Ohio University, M.A. in speechwriting and gender communication from Emerson College, and B.A. in speech communication from Syracuse University. She is a full-time professor and the Chairperson of Communication Studies at MassBay Community College, where she teaches courses on various types of communication, the principles of persuasion, public speaking, and intercultural communication.
