Make your way from the Flatiron to Flatbush as an award-winning designer expertly captures New York City with minimalist art and unexpected wit.

Minimal New York City playfully captures the essence of New York with clever pairs of sharp illustrations and cheeky commentary about the city. Historic context for each illustration is revealed in the back of the book, making it an informative experience for anyone who has ever walked through the bright lights of Times Square, paid $13 for an avocado toast, or indulged in Juniors Cheesecake on Flatbush. Minimal New York City is a celebration of what makes New York New York.

As a lifelong resident of New York state who has spent nearly twenty-five years living on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, Michael Arndt has poured his wealth of insider knowledge into Minimal New York City, a graphic love letter dedicated to the place he calls home. His references run the gamut from visual similarities between Central Park and Brooklyns parks to the ways in which Times Square has evolved from the 70s to today. His visual and verbal wit make the graphics of New York approachable for New Yorkers and Big Apple fanatics alike.

The creation of new lexical units and patterns has been studied in different research frameworks, focusing on either system-internal or system-external aspects, from which no comprehensive view has emerged. The volume aims to fill this gap by studying dynamic processes in the lexicon - understood in a wide sense as not being necessarily limited to the word level - by bringing together approaches directed to morphological productivity as well as approaches analyzing general types of lexical innovation and the role of discourse-related factors. The papers deal with ongoing changes as well as with historical processes of change in different languages and reflect on patterns and specific subtypes of lexical innovation as well as on their external conditions and the speakers' motivations for innovating. Moreover, the diffusion and conventionalization of innovations will be addressed. In this way, the volume contributes to understanding the complex interplay of structural, cognitive and functional factors in the lexicon as a highly dynamic domain.

Love. What is love? The only love Kayla knows is family, and even that is rare. Gino is the destroyer of love. William has fallen in love, he loved before, but in the end, he had killed the very ones he claimed to love. Gino had ripped loved ones open and bled them dry and never thought twice about it and never once looked back. Kyle had painted entire cities in blood and, in doing so, had torn families apart and had been hunted for it, yet all have failed. Love is a monster; it makes one weak. Yet they had fallen in love. What kind of men are they? They are not men . . . They are monsters-monsters that all fear. William is a monster who love cannot fix. Kyle is a monster who one has nightmares about. Gino is a monster who make all those creatures that go bump in the night afraid. They are the ones who should be feared.
