This book overviews a revolutionary new method of psychotherapy, Lifespan Integration, which Peggy Pace developed beginning in 2002. Lifespan Integration (LI) is an efficient body-based psychotherapeutic method which helps clients recover from traumatic events including childhood neglect and abuse. Lifespan Integration therapy differs from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in that LI bypasses the cognitive mind, and allows 'learning' to take place at the body level. 'Watching' repetitions of the life narrative permits the client's neural system to weave new 'information' about the passage of time into existing neural networks throughout the body-mind. This re-structuring and re-patterning within existing neural networks retains the memories of past events while incorporating the 'understanding' that time has passed. In this book Pace describes the Lifespan Integration method, and cites recent discoveries in the field of neuroscience to support her hypothesis about how and why the Lifespan Integration technique is so effective. This book is not intended to be instructional. Therapists should not attempt to use the Lifespan Integration method until they have completed a Lifespan Integration training program.

Описание: Over the last few decades, film has increasingly become an issue of philosophical reflection from an ontological and epistemological perspective, and the claim “doing philosophy through film” has raised extensive discussion about its meaning. The mechanical reproduction of reality is one of the most prominent philosophical questions raised by the emergence of film at the end of the nineteenth century, inquiring into the ontological nature of both reality and film. Yet the nature of this audio-photographic and moving reproduction of reality constitutes an ontological puzzle, which has widely been disregarded as a main line of enquiry with direct consequences for philosophy. Regarding this background, this volume brings together the best papers from the Lisbon Conference on Philosophy and Film: Thinking Reality and Time through Film, held in 2014. What they all have in common is the discussion of new aspects and approaches of how philosophy relates to film. Whether by philosophizing through concrete examples of films or whether looking at film’s ontological reliance on time and image, or its intra-active entanglement with reality or truth, this book explores grasp film’s nature philosophically, and provides new insights for the film philosopher and the filmmaker, as well as for the freshman fascinated by film for philosophical reasons.

Описание: By the mid-nineteenth century 80 percent of Charlton land was used for agricultural purposes. The railroad arrived in 1838 giving the farmers new markets. The dairy industry, from which Charlton received it moniker "cow town", expanded up to the First World War, then began a long decline, and has now vanished. As the twentieth century drew closer, small shops along the many waterways, began to be absorbed by larger mills which are now gone.
Charlton's excellent school system and its geographic location with its proximity to Worcester, Springfield, Hartford and Boston resulted in a dramatic population increase in the latter part of the 20th century.
In 1920 the population was 1,995, by 1970 it had slowly increased to 4,654, then it was "discovered" and today it is over 13,000. Today, taking a leisurely walk through the woodlands of Charlton will result in viewing stonewalls in every direction, evidence of once open fields cleared of stones by hard working farmers of a bygone time.
