LEADER GUIDE - Imagine waking up every single day convinced that the twenty-four hours ahead of you are a precious gift to be used wisely. Now imagine that you know exactly how to spend them to be a force for God's good.
All too often we wander through life without appreciating the gift of every moment we've been given. The result? An unsatisfying life, missed opportunities to experience the joy of being in sync with God, and days marked with apathy instead of passion. Our time on earth is measured. We should want to make every moment count--not only because we aren't guaranteed the next one, but also because this is exactly how our Savior spent His time here. How, then, do we walk out unwavering joy-filled faith every day, determined to let go of the things that keep us from experiencing abundant life and fulfilling the plans God has for us? The answers are found in following the footsteps of the One who lived fully, because He was determined that we might do the same.
In this six-week study of Luke, we will follow the life and ministry of Jesus as we consider the choices He made on His way to the cross. We'll intimately connect with a Savior who remained laser-focused on His mission to love the world. In return, we'll receive a model for intentional living that we can replicate to ensure we are living each day to the fullest and making a difference for God's kingdom. And together we'll determine to embrace the abundant life we are promised in Jesus.
Описание: Fast paced and profusely illustrated with over 500 hand-drawn figures, Describing the World with Mathematics, is an introductory physics textbook suitable for courses at the university freshman and sophomore level, or for AP and IB high school courses. Physics starts and ends with laboratory data, but a discussion of laboratory data involves mathematics, mostly calculus in the beginning. How can a student, who only knows 8th grade algebra, be brought up to studying physics with calculus and differential equations? In this book, all necessary calculus and differential equations are rigorously developed in the context of physics, leaving no need for outside reference. All theorems are proved rigorously, and all physics formulas are derived from first principles or laboratory data. Several hundred students at Cathedral High School in Indianapolis, Indiana have helped to develop the related course. Highlights include: 1. Viscous fluid flow with Reynolds number in chapter 3. 2. Treatment of experimental data in chapter 4. 3. Transfer functions and block diagrams in feedback and control engineering in chapter 5. 4. Introduction to electrical measurements in chapter 8. 5. Feynman graphs in chapter 9. 6. Efficiency of internal combustion engines in chapter 10. 7. Nuclear magnetic resonance in chapter 12. In every chapter there is far more material than an instructor may want to cover, leaving the student to discover the extent of this vast and interesting subject. Volume Two: The Quantum Theory of Everything is coming soon.

Описание: Paule Marshall (b. 1929) is a major contributor to the canons of African American and Caribbean American literature. In 1959, she published her first novel, Brown Girl, Brownstones, and was quickly recognized as a writer of great talent and insight on important questions about gender, race, and immigration in American society. In 1981, the Feminist Press rediscovered her novel and reprinted it, earning Marshall the informal title of leader of the renaissance of African American women's writing that emerged in the early 1970s. Over the course of her fifty-year career, Marshall has published five novels, two collections of short stories, numerous essays, and a memoir. In recognition of her work, she has received grants from the Guggenheim Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, and, in 1992, the prestigious MacArthur Fellowship.Conversations with Paule Marshall is the first collection of her interviews, and as such it provides the first comprehensive account of the stages of this writer's life. The most recent conversation took place in 2009 following the publication of her memoir, Triangular Road; the oldest takes readers back to 1971, just after the publication of her second novel, The Chosen Place, the Timeless People. In this collection of interviews, Marshall discusses the sources of her writing, her involvement in the civil rights movement, her understanding of the relationship between art and politics (as framed, in part, by her discussions with Maya Angelou and Malcolm X), and her evolving understanding of the relationship between the wide wings of the African diaspora.
Few things make us feel as helpless as living with a story we don't like. Maybe one that involves the loss of a loved one, an unwanted transition, a difficult diagnosis, or a dream that fell through. At one time or another, we all deal with disappointments and feelings that life is unfair or that we are being punished.
In Renewed, a four-week study of the Book of Ruth, women glean wisdom from Naomi's perspective, a woman who lived a story she didn't choose or like. Forced to chart a new path as she mourned the loss of her husband and two sons, Naomi learned that the journey from bitterness to renewed hope and joy was rooted in God's promise of redemption.
With insight from her own journey of living with a story that is not easy, Heather teaches women to flourish even as they live hard stories through a willingness to trust that God can transform them and trade their heartache for hope. They will learn to rely on God's movement in the details of their story, even when it can't be seen, gain confidence to act in the part of their stories that they can change, and watch expectantly for God to redeem the parts they can't.
Components for this four-week Bible study, available separately, include a Participant Workbook with Leader Helps and a DVD with four 20 to 25-minute segments (with closed captioning).
