Описание:
Dialogues and conflicts have become related topics. With all the resources, academic, financial and religious, interreligious dialogue is yet to achieve the expectations of peace among religious people. Searching through the works of many thinkers, from Plato, Rousseau, Buber and Bohm through de Chardin, von Balthasar, Rahner and Dani?lou to Tracy, Jeanrond and Moyaert, this study discovers the missing link between interreligious dialogues and its practicability in the public, and proffers solutions.

Описание: Common wisdom suggests that 9/11 changed everything about refugee law in the United States and Canada. But did it? Refugee Law after 9/11 systematically examines the evidence to reveal that refugee rights were already so whittled down in both countries before 9/11 that there was relatively little room for negative change after the attacks. It also shows that the Canadian refugee law regime reacted to 9/11 in much the same way as its US counterpart, and these similar reactions raise significant questions about security relativism and national self-image in the two countries.

Описание: The Great Migration of Black Women Educators from Segregation to Integration documents the real-life journey of Black women educators who migrated North in order to obtain their advanced academic degrees. Remarkably, these women did not remain in the North. Instead, they returned to their communities in the South in order to educate Black children. Dr. Obiora N. Anekwe uses photographic images, archival documents, oral history interviews, essays, and a documentary script to tell the untold stories of Black women educators he personally knew. These women have influenced his educational, ethical, and moral values, which, in turn, have impacted how he teaches young people today. While reading the book, we are reminded to never give up in the face of human injustice. In the end analysis, this book speaks to how education serves as the gateway to a better life for all humanity.

The Igbo of Nigeria always say that "Awo anaghi agba oso ihihe n'efu" meaning that the toad does not run in a broad day time for nothing". That is to say, either it is pursuing something or something is pursing it. Thus, the perception in West Africa about mental illness remains a strange one.
My research on the cultural perspectives and stigmatization against the mentally ill persons in West Africa is essential to curb the negative stereotypes, myths, and stigma associated with mental illness. The negative perception of mental illness affects not only the individual diagnosed with mental illness but also the families.
The topic is interesting to research on as to curtail the seeming long known myths that mentally ill persons are infectious, demon possessed and dangerous to live in a society. The study will also educate the people of West Africa to understand the etiology and different types of mental illness. It will help West Africans to debunk the belief that parents' sin, curse, witchcraft or God punishment as responsible for mental illness. Thus, this research will provide insight on the impact of factors like wars, economic deprivation, migration, isolation and cultural effects on mental illness.

Описание: Alma's Dream translates through images and words the artistic journey of Alma Woodsey Thomas (1891-1978). Born in Columbus, Georgia, Thomas rose to fame as a prolific abstract artist after retiring from teaching art in the public school system. Her success later in life serves as an example to others that professional accolades can happen at any moment in one's existence. This book was written for young readers ages three and older. The Alma Thomas story is an example of holding fast to one's dream until the vision is realized.
