Описание: El Desorden Depresivo Mayor (Depresiуn) es una alteraciуn del sistema nervioso central caracterizado por la culminaciуn de cambios profundos en el estado de бnimo y la regulaciуn afectiva. Su rйgimen de tratamiento actual involucra la administraciуn de inhibidores selectivos de la recaptura de serotonina como la Fluoxetina y la Venlafaxina. Recientemente, se presenta un debate considerable respecto a la efectividad de diversos fбrmacos incluidos los antidepresivos y sus potenciales efectos adversos sobre la arquitectura y la funciуn neuronal. En este estudio, neuronas en cultivo fueron expuestas a Fluoxetina y Venlafaxina posteriormente se evaluaron parбmetros morfolуgicos y estructurales. Los resultados demuestran que la exposiciуn a los fбrmacos inducen cambios en la estructura y composiciуn de las neuronas tratadas. Se propone que estudios posteriores deberбn ser encaminados a la evaluaciуn de la posible reversibilidad de estos efectos y poder contribuir al desarrollo de tratamientos fundamentalmente novedosos como aquellos que involucren terapias conductuales con enriquecimiento ambiental.
