In Love Your Life, Not Theirs, Rachel Cruze shines a spotlight on the most damaging money habit we have: comparing ourselves to others. Then she unpacks seven essential money habits for living the life we really want a life in line with our values, where we can afford the things we want to buy without being buried under debt, stress, and worry.
The Joneses are broke.
Life looks good, but hidden beneath that glossy exterior are credit card bills, student loans, car payments, and an out-of-control mortgage. Their money situation is a mess, and they re trying to live a life they simply can't afford. So why exactly do we try so hard to keep up with the Joneses?
Are we really living the lives we want, or are we chasing someone else s dream, just trying to keep up appearances on social media, at church, and in our community? Why are we letting other people set the pace for our own family s finances?
In Love Your Life, Not Theirs, Rachel shows you how to buy and do the things that are important to you the right way. That starts by choosing to quit the comparisons, reframing the way you think about money, and developing new habits like avoiding debt, living on a plan, watching your spending, saving for the future, having healthy conversations about money, and giving.
These habits work, and Rachel is living proof. Now, she wants to empower you to live the life you ve always dreamed of without creating the debt, stress, and worry that are all too often part of the deal.
Social media isn t real life, and trying to keep up with the Joneses will never get you anywhere. It s time to live and love your life, not theirs."

Описание: Traditional economic models of how to manage environmental problems relating to renewable natural resources, such as fisheries, have tended to recommend either government regulation or privatisation and the explicit definition of property rights. These traditional models ignore the practical reality of natural resource management. Many communities are able to spontaneously develop their own approaches to managing such common-pool resources.
In the words of Mark Pennington: '[Professor Ostrom's] book Governing the Commons is a superb testament to the understanding that can be gained when economists observe in close-up detail how people craft arrangements to solve problems in ways often beyond the imagination of textbook theorists.' In particular, communities are often able to find stable and effective ways to define the boundaries of a common-pool resource, define the rules for its use and effectively enforce those rules. The effective management of a natural resource often requires 'polycentric' systems of governance where various entities have some role in the process. Government may play a role in some circumstances, perhaps by providing information to resource users or by assisting enforcement processes through court systems.
Elinor Ostrom's work in this field, for which she won the Nobel Prize in economics in 2009, was grounded in the detailed empirical study of how communities managed common-pool resources in practice. It is essential that we avoid the 'panacea problem'. There is no correct way to manage common-pool resources that will always be effective.
Different ways of managing resources will be appropriate in different contexts - for example within different cultures or where there are different physical characteristics of a natural resource. Nevertheless, there are principles that we can draw from the detailed study of the salient features of different cases to help us understand how different common-pool resources might be best managed; which rules systems and systems of organisation have the best chance of success or failure; and so on. Elinor Ostrom's approach has been praised by the left, who often see it as being opposed to free-market privatisation initiatives.
In fact, her approach sits firmly within the classical liberal tradition of political economy. She observes communities freely choosing their own mechanisms to manage natural resource problems without government coercion or planning. In developing a viable approach to the management of the commons, it is important, among other things, that a resource can be clearly defined and that the rules governing the use of the resource are adapted to local conditions.
This suggests that rules imposed from outside, such as by government agencies, are unlikely to be successful. There are important areas of natural resource management where Elinor Ostrom's ideas should be adopted to avoid environmental catastrophe. Perhaps the most obvious example relevant to the UK is in European Union fisheries policy.
Here, there is one centralised model for the management of the resource that is applied right across the European Union, ignoring all the evidence about the failure of that approach.

At a time when we are witnessing the return of the World Soul, the rise of feminine consciousness and the re-enchantment of Nature, the friendship between Marion Woodman and Elinor Dickson offers us a rare glimpse into the new story yearning to be born. Dancing at the Still Pointreveals a remarkable friendship rooted in Soul that is both deeply personal and transpersonal.
Prompted by a dream in which Marion, a Jungian analyst who is internationally renowned as a teacher and workshop leader, told her to write about their friendship, Elinor has succeeded in weaving their shared visions, dreams and insights with the playfulness, challenges, and honesty they shared over thirty-four years. Like all deep friendships, Marion and Elinor mirrored each other while mutually affirming their individual destinies.
This is a book that celebrates the gift of friendship as a compelling model for community in these times. As Marion would say, "where soul meets soul that's love" and love is the field in which we are all called to dance.

Описание: Samuel Taylor Coleridge, poet, philosopher and critic, a founder of British Romanticism, wrote with William Wordsworth the Lyrical Ballads (1798), which included his great poem 'The Rime of the Ancient Mariner'. It was this work which was first to carry his reputation across Europe in many translations and through the rich illustrations by Gustave Dore. His poetry was received as late Romantic, visionary and symbolist, in later phases of European reception; he was known too as the translator of Schiller. His prose was known mainly in selections: chapters of his literary life Biographia Literaria; elements of his Shakespeare lectures; and other literary, political, philosophical and religious lectures, essays, and aphorisms, especially his brilliant Table Talk. In the last fifty years the Notebooks and Letters, and the recent Collected Works, have added to his stature at home and abroad. This collection of essays by an international team of scholars, critics and translators, records how Coleridge's works have been received, translated and interpreted across Europe from his own time to today, and will contribute to the new recognition of one of the greatest of English poets, critics and cultural thinkers.
