Описание: Within the last decade, several industrialized countries have stressed the importance of advanced manufacturing to their economies. Many of these plans have highlighted the development of additive manufacturing techniques, such as 3D printing which, as of 2018, are still in their infancy. The objective is to develop superior products, produced at lower overall operational costs. For these goals to be realized, a deep understanding of the essential ingredients comprising the materials involved in additive manufacturing is needed. The combination of rigorous material modeling theories, coupled with the dramatic increase of computational power can potentially play a significant role in the analysis, control, and design of many emerging additive manufacturing processes. Specialized materials and the precise design of their properties are key factors in the processes. Specifically, particle-functionalized materials play a central role in this field, in three main regimes: (1) to enhance overall filament-based material properties, by embedding particles within a binder, which is then passed through a heating element and the deposited onto a surface, (2) to “functionalize” inks by adding particles to freely flowing solvents forming a mixture, which is then deposited onto a surface and (3) to directly deposit particles, as dry powders, onto surfaces and then to heat them with a laser, e-beam or other external source, in order to fuse them into place. The goal of these processes is primarily to build surface structures which are extremely difficult to construct using classical manufacturing methods. The objective of this monograph is introduce the readers to basic techniques which can allow them to rapidly develop and analyze particulate-based materials needed in such additive manufacturing processes. This monograph is broken into two main parts: “Continuum Method” (CM) approaches and “Discrete Element Method” (DEM) approaches. The materials associated with methods (1) and (2) are closely related types of continua (particles embedded in a continuous binder) and are treated using continuum approaches. The materials in method (3), which are of a discrete particulate character, are analyzed using discrete element methods.
Copper(I) Complexes of Phosphines and Bisphosphines, Functionalized Phosphines and Phosphorus Heterocycles is a comprehensive guide to one of the most widely used and extensively studied metals: copper. The numerous practical applications of copper compounds are discussed, including homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis and their use as fungicides, pesticides, pigments for paints, resins and glasses, and in high-temperature superconductors. The remarkable structural flexibility of simple copper(I) complexes, such as cuprous halides is covered, including numerous structural motifs that, when combined with different ligand systems, exhibit linear, trigonal planar or tetrahedral geometries.
This work is an essential reference for inorganic and coordination chemists, as well as researchers working on catalysis, anticancer reagents, luminescence, fluorescence and photophysical aspects.
Discusses the properties of copper and similarities to noble metals, such as their corrosion resistance, high thermal and electrical conductivity and rich coordination chemistry
Includes the copper(I) coordination chemistry of tertiary phosphines, bisphosphines and phosphines containing other donor atoms and their potential application in catalysis, biosystems and photochemical areas
Features a discussion of the rich photochemistry exhibited by some mixed-ligand copper(I) complexes (phosphines with heteroaromatic ligands) which can exhibit coprophilic interactions, photoluminescence and thermochromic properties
Functionalized nanomaterials have extremely useful properties, which can outperform their conventional counterparts because of their superior chemical, physical, and mechanical properties and exceptional formability. They are being used for the development and innovation in a range of industrial sectors. However, the use of functionalized nanomaterials is still in its infancy in many industrial settings. Functionalized nanomaterials have the potential to create cheaper and more effective consumer products and industrial processes. However, they also could have adverse effects on the environment, human health, and safety, and their sustainability is questionable, if used incorrectly. This book discusses the opportunities and challenges of using functionalized nanomaterials in a variety of major industrial sectors.
Handbook of Functionalized Nanomaterials for Industrial Applications provides a concise summary of the major applications of functionalized nanomaterials in industry today. It covers the enhancements in industrial techniques and processes, due to functionalized nanomaterials, showing how they substantially improve the performance of existing procedures, and how they can deliver exciting consumer products more cheaply. Emphasis is given to greener approaches, leading to more sustainable products and devices. The legal, economical, and toxicity aspects of functionalized nanomaterials are also discussed in detail.

Описание: In this book the authors describe how they reproduced the redox functions of biocatalysts artificially. It includes the introduction and discussion of synthetic reactions via electron transfer, hybrid ?-conjugated systems, and biorganometallic conjugates as novel redox systems. The work was conducted in pioneering fields based on redox systems, in synthetic organic chemistry, synthetic materials chemistry, and bioorganometallic chemistry. The step-by-step process is illustrated by the three major parts of the book: redox reactions (selective synthetic methods using metal-induced redox reactions), redox systems (design and redox function of conjugated complexes with polyanilines or quinonediimines and molecular bowl sumanene), and design of bioorganometallic conjugates to induce chirality-organized structures (bio-related structurally controlled systems). This systematic and up-to-date description will be of special interest to graduate students who are meeting the new challenges of chemistry, as well as to post-doctoral researchers and other practicing chemists in both academic and industrial settings.
