The Adventures of Baggy and Paxton came into being while I was on holiday with my family in Dawlish Warren, Devon in 2004. I would always read my boys, James and Edward, a bedtime story but I had finished the books we'd brought with us, so their mum suggested I make up a story this particular night as they wouldn't settle down and go to sleep. I decided to use their cuddly toys as characters in my story. It wasn't the story you are going to read in this book, but it was the inspiration for it and a series of others based on the same characters. This particular story came into being while I was working on a ship in the Gulf of Mexico. I had quite a lot of free time and in a conversation with my boys' mum over the phone, she suggested I put the stories of Baggy and Paxton down in writing.
