Описание:
This Miraculous Little Thing is an ode to love, in various forms and stages - how it can be found in another, morph into the abundance of the collective and ultimately return to self. It is a journey through the euphoria we feel in its presence and the despair we feel in its absence. It is a wild ride. An introspective confession. A poetic longing. An inevitable acceptance. A sweet celebration. This Miraculous Little Thing is something we can't quite figure out...and that's the miraculous thing about it.
And if nothing else, a grand adventure, this miraculous little thing we call love.

Описание: This Thing That Is Not a Thing says a lot with little. Economy of words in fine, colourful form, these poems by Paulette A. Ramsay prompt the reader to question human perception ways of seeing the world and ways people view each other. Weaving the everyday with the extraordinary, heaviness of heart with humour, grief and gratitude, This Thing That Is Not a Thing centres absence absence of voice, of persons, of trust and affection showing how silence, in particular, shapes experience and expression.

Описание: Love is like this: Revised and New Poems is about learning to voice the grief that is part of the experience of loving. The author takes a hard look at loss in poems like "Gutting the Doe" and a softer look through poems like "Flowers were everywhere." Everywhere, there is something beautiful to aspire towards and something heartbreaking to mourn and the challenge of loving is being able to do both and not let it keep us from remembering why we love, even if we are still hurt, even if our grief still haunts us.

Описание:
After holding the prestigious Kingsbury Fellowship at Florida State University and landing a professorship at Western Kentucky University, Tom C. Hunley published two volumes of poetry in 2004: The Tongue, described by Philip Dacey as having "the kind of insouciance praised by Whitman and practiced by a Buster Keaton or Harold Lloyd", and Still, There's a Glimmer, which Barbara L. Hamby called a collection of "shout-out-loud poems." Hunley followed that up in 2008 with Octopus, winner of The Holland Prize, which Thomas Lux praised for its "completely unsentimental poems about children and marriage; angry poems and poems of deep gratitude; poems both comic and dark (often simultaneously); and maybe most of all a clear, original, passionate American voice." His fourth collection, Plunk, published in 2015, was described by Lynn Domina as "ironic and loquacious and wily. . . . energetic and energizing, and, basically, fun to read and to read aloud." Hunley followed that up with two project books: The State That Springfield Is In (2016), consisting of forty dramatic monologues in the voices of characters from The Simpsons; and Here Lies (2018), consisting of forty-nine self-epitaphs. Of the former, Jason Bredle wrote "The results are not only playful and fun, but also deeply autobiographical, with deftly focused attention to formal diversity and voice." Of the latter, Bob Hicok wrote that [Hunley's] "cornucopian appetites are served by an imagination of equal scope." What Feels Like Love: New and Selected Poems brings together the highlights from Hunley's six previous full-length collections, along with a selection of new poems that grapple with the challenges of raising an autistic son, adopting a teenage daughter from state foster care, and learning of a friend's suicide.

Описание:
Septuagenarian: love is what happens when I die is a memoir in poetic form. It is the author's journey from being a mixed-race girl who passed for white to being a woman in her seventies who understands and accepts her complex intersectional identity; and no longer has to imagine love. It is a follow-up to the author's previous memoir (prose), Love Imagined: a mixed-race memoir, A Minnesota Book Award finalist.
In Septuagenarian, Sherry Quan Lee accepts her own invitation to look at life in retrospect, but with a new lens. Pulling from and expanding upon her previous body of work, she examines the version of herself that was writing at that time. The dignity and fire of her seventy-three-year-old gaze taking in snapshots of those selves...straightens my spine and gives me a vision for myself traveling today into my future septuagenarian. Lola Osunkoya, MA, LPCC
Sherry Quan Lee writes courageously to understand herself and the world. She uses rich language and her skills as a storyteller to focus her sharp lens on what it means to have a complex, sometimes complicated identity: becoming invisible as she ages, a history of passing unseen, love and sex, grieving and celebration. She ruminates on history, which repeats itself in the current moment and widens her lens to look at the bigger, global picture to tell truths in poems that tenderly hold memory, time, rituals, trauma, mothering, fear of death and love in many forms. Her poems offer deeply personal, intimate and perceptive insights and opportunities to reflect on what it means to truly live. It feels like I've taken the journey with her, and I'm wiser for it. Описание: "These two hard-to-come-by texts reveal that the H.D. we know--the poet of exquisite, erudite, allusive imagist or modernist poems--chose to live through the experience of WWII London and to share with her fellow Londoners the hardships and anxieties of a city under attack."--Demetres Tryphonopoulos, editor of Majic Ring "Fascinating reading. Debo's introduction and precise scholarly edition are not simply useful but will also change our minds about some of the other post-war works now available."--Cynthia Hogue, coeditor of The Sword Went Out to Sea This volume presents two rare works by the modernist writer H.D.: Within the Walls, a collection of fourteen short stories, and What Do I Love?, a set of three long poems. Written during World War II in London, where H.D. chose to stay despite offers of refuge in the United States, the stories and poems recount her experiences during the Blitz. These texts capture the essence of war-torn London from the perspective of a woman with her boots on the ground. Annette Debo's nuanced introduction sets the cultural scene for these works. She positions the literature in three contexts: H.D.'s personal life, the story of women civilians at war, and the international history of World War II. Debo helps us comprehend a time and place that transformed "H.D. Imagiste" into the bold war writer evinced in this volume and opens our eyes to the impact of these war experiences on H.D.'s better known works.
