Leyla J. Keough examines the gendered moral economies that shape the perspectives of the migrants, their employers in Turkey, their communities in Moldova, and the International Organization for Migration. She finds that their socialist past continues to color how the women view their labor and their roles within their families, even as they are affected by the same shifts in the global economy that drive migration elsewhere. Keough puts scholarship on gender and migration into dialogue with postsocialist studies and offers a critical assessment of international anti-trafficking efforts.

Jim lives in the Adirondack Mts. of Northern New York State. He and his wife, Lynn, spend summers on Seventh Lake and winters in Tupper Lake. Spending time with their children and grandchildren is one of the joys of retirement for both of them. Jim taught history in middle school in Saranac Lake for thirty-six years and was an ordained Deacon for the Diocese of Ogdensburg for thirty-one years. Why would a nerdy science geek break up with a handsome woman who comes from wealth? As an atheist, why would it matter that she claimed to be a witch? If there was no such thing as a witch, or anything like that, why care about any label she gave herself? Except ... was there trouble coming from being with a person claiming to be a witch?
