This book describes the development of Butterfly Ridge Butterfly Conservation Center in southeast Ohio. By creating and altering habitat, Butterfly Ridge was able to quadruple its butterfly population in five years. As part of the project, we converted 1.5 acres of old abused field into a thriving prairie. We also cut one-quarter acre openings out of the deciduous forest to create edge effect for butterflies and other wildlife. Butterfly Ridge is open to the public mid-April through mid-October and features a gift shop, one-mile hiking trail, and caterpillar house.
