Описание: Within the evolution that the Japanese martial arts have had during the last centuries, survive techniques that were developed in feudal Japan for real combat, for war or for survival itself, an example is the Hodoki waza or escape techniques or release. The aim of the Hodoki waza was mainly to free itself from a grip that prevented the weapon from being grasped so that once released from the grip it could be used. Escape techniques currently play an important role in any method of self-defense, since they are the bridge between the first reaction of the attacked and the subsequent technical defense sequence. We consider necessary in any school of budo / bujutsu or self-defense the serious and formal study of Hodoki waza and in particular of Te Hodoki (escapes of hands). In this work we mainly develop the Te Hodoki used in the old Jujutsu schools and also in some forgotten kata of traditional Judo, making a tour of its history, about the basic concepts and principles of application, about anatomy and the functional capacity of the joints, etc. In the technical chapter we developed more than 40 technical series for various grips (direct, inverted, two-handed grips, from behind, flaps, etc.).

This study was led by the teacher Yamashita Yoshitsugu (first 10th Dan of Kodokan Judo) with the approval of the teacher Jigoro Kano. Torite No Kata shows great technical refinement and preserves the shinken shobu principles of Traditional Kodokan Judo and ancient Jujutsu. By studying the Torite No Kata carefully we will learn how to perform the atemi correctly, how to defend ourselves against different knife attacks, how to locate vital points, how to perform joint lock techniques on the fingers, wrist, knee, ankle and elbow, and how to learn some forms of renkoho or police driving. It is therefore an extremely useful and effective kata from the perspective of self-defense. Unfortunately, this method has fallen into disuse. Our goal is to teach and spread this kata so that students and teachers from all disciplines can benefit from this formidable method.

It is for this reason that we have ventured to collect, classify, translate and publish ancient writings by Jigoro Kano that appeared mainly in old interviews, contributions in newspapers and specialized magazines, in ancient Kodokan Judo readings, etc. We have divided it into 7 chapters arranged chronologically. In all the chapters, Kano speaks to us about the need to use time correctly, about austerity in expenses, he advises us on the ideal form of combat, feelings and of friendship, of the best way to resolve conflicts between people, of the values that must prevail in any society, of honesty, etc. Sometimes he even explains his doctrine in a hard, direct tone and with some criticism of what was happening in judo and in society at that time.
