Описание: If evolution is popularly sold as an atheist concept, its notion can equally be applied to a person's understanding of the Divine. This is precisely what I present here with these four philosophical essays: My own evolution in both my understanding and experience of the Divine. Essay Number One is based on an initial manuscript I wrote many years ago (1998) in an attempt to capture the essence of Frederick Bauer's Jamesian Quintalism. Essay Number Two is equally based on an initial manuscript I also wrote back in 1998 to elaborate on Ignacio Larra aga's contributions to the field of spirituality within Christian mysticism. Essay Number Three, however, consists of a set of philosophical-theological reflections on my initial attempts at synthesizing both my understanding and experiences of the Divine during my theological studies at the Vatican, Italy. Essay Number Four seems to be a more open, universal and inclusive embrace of the Divine as It has been experienced through the phenomenon of personal healing. It is also more inviting to converge with other cosmologies. Ultimately, this process of evolution, deeply stimulated by Ignacio Larra aga and Frederick Bauer, has taken me to experience, understand and embrace what many call God or Goddess as the Divine Sting and Stinger, Source of all Abundant Life, Paradoxical Truth, and Unconditional Love as I often express through Convergencias.

Описание: Bauer's (2009a) sense about this sequential progression of interests in studies about William James is summarized in the following lines: "It's not quite right to say that William James was the greatest American thinker. It is more correct to say that he was not only the greatest American thinker. He was the greatest thinker of all time. Unfortunately, William James is perhaps the least well known of the world's very greatest thinkers. People who have heard of Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, and Descartes are more likely to think of Henry than of William when asked "Are you familiar with James?" But... But, if the ultimate goal of William James on Common Sense is ever reached, it will be because the time is ripe for restoring some of the world-wide fame that William James enjoyed in 1910, the year of his death. The time is ripe for several reasons". (p. xi)

Описание: If there is a thinker and writer that has addressed this psychological, social, scientific and philosophical issue in a highly scholar manner and thorough fashion, it has been Frederick R. Bauer. Professor Bauer has not only examined the issue of human nature transparently from multiple angles, but he has also considered the plethora of applications and complications his Jamesian Quintalist response implies. Frederick R. Bauer's response to the question of what a human being is can be broken down into three different stages: 1) the discovery of himself as a person, 2) his first attempts in Rome, Italy and Worcester, Massachusetts, and 3) both his published and unpublished scientific answer to the question of what is a human being. It is obvious and plain common sense that Frederick R. Bauer's first response started with himself as he started questioning and discovering who he was as a person. The rest is history, as they say. This is and should be the starting point for any serious researcher into this type of topic. As Dr. Bauer moved to frame his observations, self- iv discoveries and reflections he developed a manuscript for internal circulation during his Philosophy of Human Nature courses at Assumption College in the region of Worcester, Massachusetts. This manuscript is a gem of facts and considerations that cannot be ignored by any serious reader and researcher into this most important topic. However, it was not until 2011 that Bauer published his official statement on the issue of human nature in his You're a Human Being -What's That?: The Scientific Answer. This brief introduction of mine is precisely an introduction to his Jamesian Quintalist answer to the question of human nature found in his book. In other words, the purpose of this extremely brief exposure is for you to be redirected to read his more complete and satisfactory answer to the question of who you are Reading Bauer's work will change the notion you have about your own self-identity forever

Описание: One of the most brilliant and interesting phrases that keeps on coming up and out of many professors' mouth is; "...it is just a construct". This phrase in and of itself can summarize - from a simplistic point of view - the whole issue of racism, discrimination, and other inhumane treatments that have been and are currently being experienced by many individuals in many regions of the world. There is definitely a lot of wisdom hidden in this phrase; "...it is just a construct". Moreover, if something is a construct it means that it was - precisely that - constructed by something or someone. This "something" with the power of constructing, re-constructing and de-constructing things is called the human mind. There is, indeed, an intrinsic link between "constructs" and the mind. That is precisely why the purpose of this manuscript is to provide and present a tripartite model-theory of understanding and change (transformation) that could be used as a framework to understand, deal with, and change radically racism, discrimination, misperceptions about other people, assumptions about color, race, and gender, and other biased fictions created by the mind, which do not have any foundation and correspondence whatsoever in objective reality.

Описание: What is a Human Being? is a brief and generic manuscript, which introduces the question about what is a human being as well as some factors connected to both the question and its answers. What is a Human Being? introduces the reader to various philosophers and psychologists who have struggled with this question throughout history. In addition, this brief manuscript addresses some of the most important theories and explanation connected to this most important question about our self-identity in an essay-oriented fashion. Moreover, its author exhibits some of the most crucial facts to consider in the asnwering of this anthropological question. Perhaps one of the most important features of this pocket-size book is that it re-directs the attention of the reader to the scientific answer to that question found in Dr. Frederick R. Bauer's book: Bauer, F. (2011). You're a Human Being -What's That?: The Scientific Answer. New York: iUniverse, Inc. It is almost guaranteed that after being re-directed to Dr. Bauer's work and reading it your notion of your self-identity will be permanently changed forever.
