Описание:
Aneurysms-Osteoarthritis Syndrome: SMAD3 Gene Mutations is a first-of-its-kind compilation of the genetic discovery, research, and care associated with AOS. With the field of genetically triggered aortopathies growing, this important reference will compile the newest discoveries in this field, allowing cardiologists, cardio-thoracic surgeons, clinical geneticists, vascular surgeons, orthopedic surgeons, and researchers to gain the knowledge they need without having to gather the data from various sources.
Coverage includes genotype and phenotype correlations, the functional role of SMAD3, and insights into the role of TGFbeta signaling in aortic disease. The book will increase knowledge about AOS, providing awareness and better patient care for this aggressive disease.

Описание: As life expectancy is extended, the incidence and occurrence of Aortic Aneurysms are becoming increasingly common. This title assesses this field of aneurysm treatment, focusing on aneurysms of the descending thoracic and abdominal aorta. It is suitable for Cardiologists, Vascular Surgeons, and Thoracic and Cardiac Surgeons.
Focusing on the latest safe and effective techniques, Endovascular Treatment of Aortic Aneurysms: Standard and Advanced Techniques provides step-by-step, comprehensive coverage of endovascular repairs of complex aneurysms of the aorta, from basic to advanced.
Explains how to perform the techniques in a step-by-step manner, using high-quality images and practical tips and tricks to optimize results.
Contains chapters devoted to the repair of leaks that may occur after a repair and the best ways to minimize radiation exposure.
Presents information in a consistent, standardized format: introduction, indications for the technique, how to perform the technique, complications and techniques for rescue, and concluding thoughts.

Описание: The increase in abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) is viewed from the perspective of epidemiology, and initiatives to prevent death from rupture are discussed. Animal models and their relevance to pathophysiology and prevention are also presented, and the interventional pharmacology is also considered from the perspective of enzymology.

Описание: An aortic aneurysm is the dilation of the aorta to more than 1.5 times its normal size. It causes no symptoms except when it ruptures. Sometimes, it may result in leg, back or abdominal pain. Aortic rupture results in massive internal bleeding, which unless treated immediately, is fatal. Aortic aneurysms are of three types, classified on the basis of their location on the aorta - aortic root aneurysm, thoracic aortic aneurysm and abdominal aortic aneurysm. Aneurysms can be detected through physical examination. Medical imaging is required for confirming the diagnosis and determining the anatomic extent of the aneurysm. It can occur as a result of trauma or infection or an abnormality in the collagen and elastin components of the aortic wall. Open or endovascular surgery is the recommended treatment for an aortic aneurysm. For smaller aneurysms, blood pressure control, use of beta blockers and statins may be recommended. This book provides significant information on aortic aneurysms to help develop a good understanding of the pathogenesis and treatment of this medical condition. Those with an interest in cardiology would find this book helpful.

Описание: The topic of heart failure although extensively researched and reported, has several gray areas. This is especially seen in determining strategies for combating advanced heart failure. The global burden of ischemic heart disease is increasing at an alarming rate to almost pandemic proportions. Even in the presence of state-of the art technology for prompt and successful coronary reperfusion, the population progressing to ischemic cardiomyopathy is substantial. The treatment strategies for ischemic cardiomyopathy do not always ensure optimal clinical results, the reasons for which are varied. The proper patient selection is vital as is the tailoring of suitable therapy. The approach is thus multi-pronged, of which surgical ventricular restoration (SVR) has a definite role. Despite various randomized studies like the STICH-hypothesis 2, where there was a huge selection bias, with patients subjected to an erroneous technique of SVR, with inadequate ventricular remodelling assessment. The present need is to understand the unique anatomy of the left ventricle, its function and perturbations with the onset of heart failure, in order to plan therapeutic strategies to restore near normal anatomy and function. A study of the hemodynamics in ischemic cardiomyopathy is essential, as it differs in certain aspects from other causes of heart failure like idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy and valvular heart diseases. Since information on these aspects are scattered in various scholarly articles, a concise source in the form of a book would be appropriate and useful for both cardiologists and cardiac surgeons. This project represents a concise review of normal and abnormal cardiac anatomy and physiology, the evolution of SVR to EVLPP with validation of near normal ventricular restoration, plus act as a reference guide for cardiac surgeons with interest in SVR.
Описание: Two decades have elapsed since the publication of the earliest study from this clinic 13 concerning arteriovenous aneurysms. Moreover, we shall attempt in this monograph to concentrate primarily upon our own clinical material, the largest series published to date, rather than prepare an exhaustive survey 63 of the literature.
