Описание:

For years now I have been asked to share my home recipes and inspiration when it comes to cooking. I was blessed to spend time around my mom, my dad and my grandmothers in the kitchen as I was growing up witnessing firsthand the joy of preparing a meal. And later on, the honest work that goes into growing a garden, harvesting an organic farm, and enjoying fresh picked ingredients that led to delicious meals and sharing around the kitchen table. This book is as much a cookbook as it is a memoir so to speak, of some of my fondest memories growing up around nature and food. As I formed my own family the trend continued. To this day we all still spend most of our time in the kitchen, creating, playing and nurturing our need to share our delicious creations with others.

You will enjoy a compilation of tantalizing Greek and Southern European, and even North African recipes that follow the Mediterranean diet principles. Some are classic Greek favorites passed down through generations and others are my own or my family's creations that were inspired over the years.

As a plus, and due to our own allergy specific diets, most of these recipes have been adjusted to serve those with special regiments and are marked for gluten, dairy and vegetarian preferences. Many recipes also follow a keto or paleo diet format.

My wish is that this cookbook is as much an inspiration for you to create delicious meals in your kitchen as it has been for me writing it. And as we say in Greece,

"Στην υγειά σας " - Here's to your health

Описание:

Should the surprisingly successful outcomes achieved by outsider candidates in Philadelphia elections be interpreted as representing fundamental changes in the local political environment, or simply as one-off victories, based largely on serendipitous circumstances that advanced individual political careers? John Kromer’s insightful Philadelphia Battlefields considers key local campaigns undertaken from 1951 to 2019 that were extraordinarily successful despite the opposition of the city’s political establishment.

Kromer draws on election data and data-mapping tools that explain these upset elections as well as the social, economic, and demographic trends that influenced them to tell the story of why these campaign strategies were successful. He deftly analyzes urban political dynamics through case studies of newcomer Rebecca Rhynhart’s landslide victory over a veteran incumbent for Philadelphia City Controller; activist Chaka Fattah’s effective use of grassroots organizing skills to win a seat in Congress; and Maria Quiñones-Sánchez’s hard-fought struggle to become the first Hispanic woman to win a City Council seat, among others.

Philadelphia Battlefields shows how these candidates’ efforts to increase civic engagement, improve municipal governance, and become part of a new generation of political leadership at the local and state level were critical to their successes.
