Описание: Successful diversity and inclusion requires D&I programs that are strategic and proactive, with unlimited vision, part of an overall D&I organizational culture. Unfortunately, most approaches to D&I haven't been successful -- half of all workers from underrepresented groups experience bias every day at work even though their organizations have diversity programs in place. So what should organizations do? In They & Them . . . Making It We & Us, Leslie Short examines the continually evolving D&I challenges that organizations face and shows leaders how to ensure that all employees have opportunities to express who they are and are comfortable doing so. In an engaging, conversational style she offers tips on how to think differently about D&I to achieve a sustainable, diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace. In this inspiring new book you'll discover:
Why many D&I programs haven't worked and what you can do differently
Opportunities that are currently overlooked and under-served
New ways to think about cultural differences and how unconscious and implicit bias affects the workplace
The understanding of Nothing About Us without Us
How to identify D&I needs and measure progress in meeting them
How to engage in meaningful conversations about D&I with others in the organization
Ways to ensure that your company culture matches what it says about D&I
What your organization needs to do to clearly demonstrate its commitment to D&I
How to educate and sensitize not only senior leaders but all employees
What tools that senior leaders, D&I directors, and employees need to succeed
How organizations in other countries are approaching corporate D&I
"We are not a monolith: Our experiences of what it means to be black in America aren't alike. The question at hand is, what is our unifying factor? What will bring us all together in order to create a driving force to change our trajectory?"-Amanda Seales
Stretching: The Race toward Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in America is a dynamic book about growth and perseverance, from my perspective. As a black woman, my ideas, experiences, and voice have often been silenced and diminished, so I wanted to write a book to serve as a guide or roadmap for other people of color and women who find it difficult to flourish in male-dominated fields. I wanted to demonstrate the value of diversity and inclusion within all aspects of life based on my experiences.
Anything that grows must be pruned to flourish.
Life has a way of pruning each of us through pain and loss. We can choose to die on the vine or stretch towards the sunlight to grow beyond what we think are our personal and professional limits. I have chosen to stretch and now I am ready to conquer new, uncharted territories in business, relationships and personal growth.
