William Stainton Moses, an Anglican priest, authoredSpirit Teachingsin 1883, nine years before his passing. It is now considered a classic in the Spiritualist genre.
Initially, Moses was antagonistic toward spirit communication, calling the mediumship of D. D. Home "the dreariest twaddle." However, in 1872 he attended a s ance for the first time and five months later became aware he had psychic abilities which eventually manifested as automatic writing. Later that same year, a communicator writing through his hand introduced himself as Imperator Servus Dei, claiming he was the leader of a band of 49 spirits communicating from the seventh sphere - their purpose, to work out the will of the Almighty.
Much of the communication came via a spirit named Rector, who claimed to reside in a lower sphere than Imperator's team, one closer to our physical vibration, which enabled dialogue.
Imperator and the other communicators answered many questions Moses put to them such as the nature of reality, life after physical life, spirit influence, skepticism, Jesus, the Second Coming, prayer, disposal of the body and much more. Moses found his Christian dogma constantly challenged by what came through his hand. During one sitting, Imperator explained, "Friend, you must discriminate between God's truths and man's glosses."
Stainton Moses' writings have become essential reading for truth seekers with an interest in life and death and despite the nineteenth century vernacular, the messages of wisdom are timeless and appeal to reason.
One morning during a busy clinic my dead grandfather dropped in for a chat...
This sent me off on a journey: a mad dash through territory populated by mediums, psychics, poltergeists, and ghosthunters. Along the way I met some fascinating and often strange people.
Let me take you with me as I travel through the hinterland of what we touchingly call reality. I'll introduce you to some of the people and beings I met on my journey. You'll get the inside story, the nuts and bolts of how someone like me can train to become a medium.
Dr. Ian D. Rubenstein is a U.K. doctor who works in Enfield, North London. Since training as a medium, he has attempted to use the mediumistic skills he has learned in his medical work as a primary care physician.

Описание: From 1550 to colonial partition in the mid-1880s, trade was key to Afro-European relations on the western Slave Coast (the coastal areas of modern Togo and parts of what are now Ghana and Benin). This book looks at the commercial relations of two states which played a crucial role in the Atlantic slave trade as well as the trade in ivory and agricultural produce: Hula, known to European traders as Grand Popo (now in Benin) and Ge, known as Little Popo (now in Togo). Situated between the Gold Coast to the west and the eastern Slave Coast to the east, this region was an important supplier of provisions for Europeans and the enslaved Africans they purchased. Also, due to its position in the lagoon system, it facilitated communication along the coast between the trading companies' headquarters on the western Gold Coast and their factories on the eastern Slave Coast, particularly at Ouidah, the Slave Coast's major slave port. In the 19th century, when the trade at more established ports was disrupted by the men-of-war of the British anti-slave trade squadron, the western Slave Coast became a hot-spot of illegal slave trading. Providing a detailed reconstruction of political and commercial developments in the western Slave coast, including the transition from the slave trade to legitimate commerce, this book also reveals the region's position in the wider trans-Atlantic trade network and how cross-cultural partnerships were negotiated; the trade's impact on African coastal "middlemen" communities; and the relative importance of local and global factors for the history of a region or community. Silke Strickrodt is Research Fellow in Colonial History, German Historical Institute London. She is co-editor (with Robin Law and Suzanne Schwarz) of Commercial Agriculture, the Slave Trade and Slavery in Atlantic Africa (James Currey, 2013).
