Описание: The XXV FilmForum Cinematic Medium Across World Fairs, Art Museums, and Cultural Exhibitions conference has been devoted to exploring the interrelations between moving images, the cinematic medium and other arts and media as seen through global exhibiting events, such as the Large International Exhibitions, the Universal Expositions and the world fairs throughout the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries. The general aim has been to shed light on the meaningful interrelations between moving images, media and arts throughout modernity and postmodernity – which means encompassing the pre-cinema, cinema and post-cinema eras, with a specific focus on Universal Expositions. In fact, the Universal Expositions proved to be a crucial and privileged field of excavation and investigation on the emergence as well as on the fluctuant re-configurations of the moving images within the broad media environment of the modern era.

Описание:
In Victorian era England, longtime friends Becky Sharp and Amelia Sedley experience love and loss alongside the many colorful members of their unique social circle. Despite the ups and downs, they attempt to maintain their dignity and connection.
Becky Sharp is a bold spitfire who's driven by ambition and eager to solidify her station in life. Her childhood friend, Amelia Sedley, is a modest and passive woman, who is mostly viewed as warm and endearing. Their glaring personalities are on full display as they encounter various male suitors including Rawdon Crawley and George Osborne. Becky's flirtatious and manipulative manner makes her a topic of conversation, while Amelia's loyalty proves to be a cross too heavy to bear.

Описание: Vanity Fair is an English novel by William Makepeace Thackeray which follows the lives of Becky Sharp and Emmy Sedley amid their friends and families during and after the Napoleonic Wars. It was first published as a 19-volume monthly serial from 1847 to 1848, carrying the subtitle Pen and Pencil Sketches of English Society, reflecting both its satirisation of early 19th-century British society and the many illustrations drawn by Thackeray to accompany the text. It was published as a single volume in 1848 with the subtitle A Novel without a Hero, reflecting Thackeray's interest in deconstructing his era's conventions regarding literary heroism. It is sometimes considered the "principal founder" of the Victorian domestic novel. The story is framed as a puppet play and the narrator, despite being an authorial voice, is notoriously unreliable. Late in the narrative, it is revealed that the entire account has been 2nd- or 3rd-hand gossip the writer picked up "years ago" from Lord Tapeworm, British charge d'affaires in one of the minor German states and relative of several of the other aristocrats in the story but none of the main characters: "the famous little Becky puppet," "the Amelia Doll," "the Dobbin Figure," "the Little Boys," and "the Wicked Nobleman, on which no expense has been spared." Despite her many stated faults and still worse ones admitted to have been passed over in silence, Becky emerges as the "hero"
