Описание:
Plasticity of Metal Materials: Modeling and Applications to Forming outlines current research on plastic anisotropy, its role in metal forming, and how it is applied to real-world scenarios. The book looks at an array of common boundary-value problems related to plasticity in metal forming and provides in-depth, comparative analyses between classical and new models. It covers metals with both cubic and hexagonal crystal structures for which experimental data and calibration processes are either scarce or non-existent, demonstrates the mechanical tests for various crystal structures required to determine material parameter, and reviews topics and techniques related to identification procedures, verification and validation tests.
Описание: Offering a well-balanced blend of theory and hands-on applications, this book presents a unified framework for the main dissipative phenomena in metallic materials: plasticity and damage. Based on representation theory for tensor functions and scale-bridging theorems, this framework enables the development of constitutive models that account for the influence of crystallographic structures and deformation mechanisms on the macroscopic behavior. It allows readers to develop a clear understanding of the range of applicability of any given model, as well as its capabilities and limitations, and provides procedures for parameter identification along with key concepts necessary to solve boundary value problems, making it useful to both researchers and engineering practitioners. Although the book focuses on new contributions to modeling anisotropic materials, the review of the foundations of plasticity and models for isotropic materials, completed with detailed mathematical proofs mean that it is self-consistent and accessible to graduate students in engineering mechanics and material sciences.

Описание:
Nonlinear Continuum Mechanics for Finite Elasticity-Plasticity empowers readers to fully understand the constitutive equation of finite strain, an essential piece in assessing the deformation/strength of materials and safety of structures. The book starts by providing a foundational overview of continuum mechanics, elasticity and plasticity, then segues into more sophisticated topics such as multiplicative decomposition of deformation gradient tensor with the isoclinic concept and the underlying subloading surface concept. The subloading surface concept insists that the plastic strain rate is not induced suddenly at the moment when the stress reaches the yield surface but it develops continuously as the stress approaches the yield surface, which is crucially important for the precise description of cyclic loading behavior. Then, the exact formulations of the elastoplastic and viscoplastic constitutive equations based on the multiplicative decomposition are expounded in great detail. The book concludes with examples of these concepts and modeling techniques being deployed in real-world applications. Table of Contents: 1. Mathematical Basics 2. General (Curvilinear) Coordinate System 3. Description of Deformation/Rotation in Convected Coordinate System 4. Deformation/Rotation (Rate) Tensors 5. Conservation Laws and Stress Tensors 6. Hyperelastic Equations 7. Development of Elastoplastic Constitutive Equations 8. Multiplicative Decomposition of Deformation Gradient Tensor 9. Multiplicative Hyperelastic-based Plastic and Viscoplastic Constitutive Equations 10. Friction Model: Finite Sliding Theory

Описание:
Gradient-Enhanced Continuum Plasticity provides an expansive review of gradient-enhanced continuum plasticity from the initial stage to current research trends in experimental, theoretical, computational and numerical investigations. Starting with an overview of continuum mechanics and classical plasticity, the book then delves into concise lessons covering basic principles and applications, such as outlining the use of the finite element method to solve problems with size effects, mesh sensitivity and high velocity impact loading. All major theories are explored, providing readers with a guide to understanding the various concepts of and differences between an array of gradient-enhanced continuum plasticity models.
Описание: Contains 51 contributions that are presented at the IUTAM Symposium on Micromechanics of Plasticity and Damage of Multiphase Materials. This symposium improves the prediction of the macroscopic behaviour of multiphase solid materials from their microstructure. It emphasizes the importance of local phenomena and of the spatial phase distribution.
Описание: This book provides a comprehensive introduction to numerical modeling of size effects in metal plasticity. The main classes of strain gradient plasticity formulations are described and efficiently implemented in the context of the finite element method. A robust numerical framework is presented and employed to investigate the role of strain gradients on structural integrity assessment. The results obtained reveal the need of incorporating the influence on geometrically necessary dislocations in the modeling of various damage mechanisms. Large gradients of plastic strain increase dislocation density, promoting strain hardening and elevating crack tip stresses. This stress elevation is quantified under both infinitesimal and finite deformation theories, rationalizing the experimental observation of cleavage fracture in the presence of significant plastic flow. Gradient-enhanced modeling of crack growth resistance, hydrogen diffusion and environmentally assisted cracking highlighted the relevance of an appropriate characterization of the mechanical response at the small scales involved in crack tip deformation. Particularly promising predictions are attained in the field of hydrogen embrittlement. The research has been conducted at the Universities of Cambridge, Oviedo, Luxembourg, and the Technical University of Denmark, in a collaborative effort to understand, model and optimize the mechanical response of engineering materials.
