Описание:
Modern petroleum and petrotechnical engineering is increasingly challenging due to the inherently scarce and decreasing number of global petroleum resources. Exploiting these resources efficiently will require researchers, scientists, engineers and other practitioners to develop innovative mathematical solutions to serve as basis for new asset development designs. Deploying these systems in numerical models is essential to the future success and efficiency of the petroleum industry.
Multiphysics modeling has been widely applied in the petroleum industry since the 1960s. The rapid development of computer technology has enabled the numerical applications of multiphysics modeling in the petroleum industry: its applications are particularly popular for the numerical simulation of drilling and completion processes. This book covers theory and numerical applications of multiphysical modeling presenting various author-developed subroutines, used to address complex pore pressure input, complex initial geo-stress field input, etc. Some innovative methods in drilling and completion developed by the authors, such as trajectory optimization and a 3-dimensional workflow for calculation of mud weight window etc, are also presented. Detailed explanations are provided for the modeling process of each application example included in the book. In addition, details of the completed numerical models data are presented as supporting material which can be downloaded from the website of the publisher. Readers can easily understand key modeling techniques with the theory of multiphysics embedded in examples of applications, and can use the data to reproduce the results presented.
While this book would be of interest to any student, academic or professional practitioner of engineering, mathematics and natural science, we believe those professionals and academics working in civil engineering, petroleum engineering and petroleum geomechanics would find the work especially relevant to their endeavors.

Описание:
This book provides readers with an incisive look at cutting-edge peridynamic modeling methods, numerical techniques, their applications, and potential future directions for the field. It starts with an introductory chapter authored by Stewart Silling, who originally developed peridynamics. It then looks at new concepts in the field, with chapters covering dual-horizon peridynamics, peridynamics for axisymmetric analysis, beam and plate models in peridynamics, coupled peridynamics and XFEM, peridynamics for dynamic fracture modeling, and more. From there, it segues into coverage of cutting-edge applications of peridynamics, exploring its biological applications, modeling at the nanoscale, peridynamics for composites delamination and damage in ceramics, and more, concluding with a chapter on the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning in peridynamics.

Описание: This book adopts numerical method to model soil constitutive relationship while it abandons the traditional idea of looking for plastic potential as the only way to model.
Описание: This book on computational techniques for thermal and fluid-dynamic problems arose from seminars given by the author at the Institute of Nuclear Energy Technology of Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. The book is composed of eight chapters-- some of which are characterized by a scholastic approach, others are devoted to numerical solution of ordinary differential equations of first order, and of partial differential equations of first and second order, respectively. In Chapter IV, basic concepts of consistency, stability and convergence of discretization algorithms are covered in some detail. Other parts of the book follow a less conventional approach, mainly informed by the author’s experience in teaching and development of computer programs. Among these is Chapter III, where the residual method of Orthogonal Collocations is presented in several variants, ranging from the classical Galerkin method to Point and Domain Collocations, applied to numerical solution of partial differential equations of first order. In most cases solutions of fluid dynamic problems are led through the discretization process, to the numerical solutions of large linear systems. Intended to impart a basic understanding of numerical techniques that would enable readers to deal with problems of Computational Fluid Dynamics at research level, the book is ideal as a reference for graduate students, researchers, and practitioners.

Описание: This book adopts numerical method to model soil constitutive relationship while it abandons the traditional idea of looking for plastic potential as the only way to model. Firstly, the triaxial compression tests of expansive soil, sand and clay under different stress paths are introduced; then the elastoplastic constitutive equations of expansive soil, sand and clay under various stress paths are established by numerical modeling method; finally, the constitutive equations are embedded in the finite element program and verified by comparing the finite element calculation results of the triaxial test soil samples with the corresponding test results. The modeling obtains high accuracy.
