Описание:

Just a few decades ago, children born with significant congenital anomalies or genetic and metabolic diseases perished at an early age and very few survived into their teens and even less into adulthood. Congenital heart disease, major errors in metabolism, cancer, cystic fibrosis and many other major diseases were fatal. Because of that many physicians in adult primary care did not have the opportunity to see patients with these problems and thus unable to learn how to care for them.

In this book, we have recruited highly qualified and experienced physicians to compile what is to the best of our knowledge, the first book dealing entirely with the issue of childrens diseases in adults. Our goal is to provide a resource for all health care providers in order to help with caring for such adult patients. We believe that it will be valuable to all health care providers who provide care to adults with childrens diseases. To our knowledge, there is no such resource available for practitioners which will make this book desirable.

Описание: This book is the first to present the current research showing that like mothers, some fathers struggle with postpartum psychiatric illnesses and have unique needs of their own. Each chapter opens with a case vignette that describes different psychopathologies in the father and demonstrates the unique struggles presented by each situation. The cases highlight social, emotional and cultural upheaval that fathers may experience during the postpartum period. Sections in each chapter include manifestations of their illness, DSM-5 diagnoses, case discussion, treatment interventions and recommendations for health care professionals. This volume also puts paternal postpartum depression into conversation with other psychiatric comorbidities, including various personality disorders, anxiety disorders, and addictions. The text also addresses the various stigmas associated with these unique cases and offers clinical pearls on how to treat these families while giving consideration to the needs of the family.

Written by renown experts in postpartum health, Paternal Postnatal Psychiatric Illnesses is an excellent resource for psychiatrists, psychologists, family therapists, general practitioners, obstetricians, social workers, and all clinicians working with postpartum families.

Описание: The die is cast when the malefic King Ajutu realizes that he has been betrayed thrice over on Nkem`s account. With Nkem, Odera, and Namdi deeming they are no longer within easy striking distance of the king, the king charges his goons with the task of silencing them for good. When Nkem, Odera, and Namdi come to terms with what they`re up against, they form a frantic alliance with the king`s twin, Prince Ikuku, and unwittingly the estranged Queen Nena. As they also enlist the help of the Children of the Shadows, will King Ajutu, along with his gentry, become too hot to handle, or will he and his camarilla meet more than their match in the ever-growing alliance? In Children of the Shadows: Firmness of Purpose, the fight for justice and peace, and for the innocent child victims of the supposedly banned Mkpataku ritual reaches boiling point.

Emerging Adults and Substance Use Disorder Treatment: Developmental Considerations and Innovative Approaches

Описание: Emerging Adults and Substance Use Disorder Treatment addresses how a societal shift in the timing of developmental tasks affects treatment outcomes for substance use disorders, which are among the most highly prevalent and costly mental health problems in the United States. It presents readers
with a summary of the developmental period of emerging adulthood as well as a comprehensive review of state-of-the-art substance use disorder treatments for this group.

There are an estimated 30.6 million emerging adults living in the US, and as many as 34.5% of them have serious problems with substances that often require clinical treatments. That equates to 10.5 million emerging adults ages 18-25 in the United States with a substance use disorder. However,
research on substance use disorder treatments for emerging adults lags behind that for adolescents and older adults. This book fills a gap for academic audiences on this important and up-and-coming area of research. The first half of this volume address developmental issues associated with emerging
adulthood, paying specific attention to how developmental features influence diagnosis and treatment. The second half of the book presents the state-of-the-science on interventions for emerging adults, with each chapter summarizing either a body of work on a particular type of intervention or a
special topic affecting intervention delivery to emerging adults.
