Описание: In On Time, Punctuality, and Discipline in Early Modern Calvinism, Max Engammare explores how the sixteenth-century Protestant reformers of Geneva, France, London, and Bern internalized a new concept of time. Engammare argues that the inhabitants of Calvin`s Geneva invented the new habit of being on time, a practice unknown in antiquity.
Описание: Across early-modern Europe the confessional struggles of the Reformation touched virtually every aspect of civic life. Focussing on events in Scotland, this book surveys the transformation of Scotland`s medieval and Catholic university system into a greatly-expanded Protestant one in the decades following the Scottish Reformation of 1560.

Описание: Calvinism is probably one of the deadliest, satanic doctrines ever to surface attacking the New Testament churches, seminaries, and colleges. Once that deadly doctrine takes hold on the theology of a person or a Christian institution that Christian or institution always degenerates into Laodiceaism and spiritual bankruptcy. Calvinists are quick to hide their true doctrinal positions, especially when they apply for positions in non-Calvinist pastoral positions or places of leadership. Calvinism makes God and our Blessed Savior to be evil sadists who reward infinite punishment for finite sins, forcing out of all of humanity a small percentage to bow to salvation, while (the God- head) then forces the remainder of lost people to burn in the Lake of Fire for eternity with no mercy. Is there a real Heaven, and a real Hell/Lake of Fire where the wicked lost are severely punished? Absolutely yes, but only a place of temporary punishment according (in degree) to their temporal works. Such a depraved system of theology is commonly held by Reformed Baptists, Presbyterians, and other Calvinist institutions. The magnificent Moody church and college may not have escaped becoming a Calvinist bastion due to Erwin Lutzer being the pastor for so many years. He was a 5 point Calvinist as documented in this booklet. (It has been rumored the wonderful Bob Jones University has quite a conclave of Calvinists among them). Worst yet is, Calvinism is a subtle attack upon the deity of Christ, by falsely claiming that Jesus offered salvation to all men (when they say) that only certain few were 'chosen' (the frozen chosen) to accept Jesus and be saved. Thus they infer Jesus lied in offering salvation to all men (which would be a lying message) while knowing that only the so called elect could be saved (forced by God to be saved). Calvinists need to be forced out of our fundamental evangelical schools/churches so they can build their own heresy centers. Romans points out "Even as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. See also our new book, "The Death of Endless Damnation," available also on e-book, which irrefutably proves Universal Christian Redemption, where all will eventually come to Christ and be saved. Remember, 'Truth will stand examination.' Break fellowship with Calvinists
Описание: Despite the best efforts of the English government, Elizabethan Ireland remained resolutely Catholic. Hutchinson examines this `failure` of the Protestant Reformation. He argues that the emerging political concept of the absolutist state forms a crucial link between English policy in Ireland and the aims of the Calvinist reformers.

Описание:
In this profound and highly thought-provoking book, Bob Raymond explores the most challenging and significant theological questions: the sovereignty and character of God, and the salvation of mankind. Does God exercise exhaustive and meticulous control over everything in His creation? Does God only choose some for salvation letting the rest live a sinful life that destines them to hell? Has He created mankind with self-determination and given everyone the freedom to accept or reject His gift of eternal life?
These critical questions frame the unending debate between Calvinism and Arminianism. Bob takes a firm stand in this debate, and provides the reader with unique and insightful biblical truths. This is a book of hope. "for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes" (Romans 1:16).
Описание: There is no doubting the legacy of the Protestant Reformers and their successors. Luther, Calvin, and Wesley not only spawned specific denominational traditions, but their writings have been instrumental in forging a broadly embraced evangelical theology as well. In this volume, Ben Witherington wrestles with some of the big ideas of these major traditional theological systems (sin, God's sovereignty, prophecy, grace, and the Holy Spirit), asking tough questions about their biblical foundations. Witherington argues that evangelicalism sometimes wrongly assumes a biblical warrant for some of its more popular beliefs, and, further, he pushes the reader to engage the larger story and plot of the Bible to understand these central elements of belief.

Описание: The French Revolution was the scene of much intellectual and social upheaval. Its impact touched a wide range of subjects: the relationship of the church to the state, social relationships, science, literature, fashion, philosophy and theology. Although the French Revolution's momentum was felt across Europe and North America, it met a particularly interesting response in the Netherlands, at that time the scene of a burgeoning neo-Calvinist movement. In that context, the likes of Groen van Prinsterer, Abraham Kuyper and Herman Bavinck responded to the French Revolution's ideals and influence in a variety of intellectual and practical ways. This book approaches that Dutch response from a range of historical and theological perspectives, and in so doing explores the relationship between the French Revolution and the development of neo-Calvinism. Beginning with historical portraits of Bavinck and Kuyper in relation to the Revolution, the perspectives offered also include, amongst others, the place of multilingualism in neo-Calvinism and the Revolution, neo-Calvinist and Revolutionary approaches to fashion, a dialogue between Kuyperian theology and Kieslowski's Three Colours trilogy, and a contemporary neo-Calvinist critique of French laicite. This book forms part of a wider Project neo-Calvinism supported by the Theologische Universiteit Kampen and the VU University Amsterdam.

Описание: Scholars have associated Calvinism with print and literary cultures, with republican, liberal, and participatory political cultures, with cultures of violence and vandalism, enlightened cultures, cultures of social discipline, secular cultures, and with the emergence of capitalism. Reflecting on these arguments, the essays in this volume recognize that Reformed Protestantism did not develop as a uniform tradition but varied across space and time. The authors demonstrate that multiple iterations of Calvinism developed and impacted upon differing European communities that were experiencing social and cultural transition. They show how these different forms of Calvinism were shaped by their adherents and opponents, and by the divergent political and social contexts in which they were articulated and performed. Recognizing that Reformed Protestantism developed in a variety of cultural settings, this volume analyzes the ways in which it related to the multi-confessional cultural environment that prevailed in Europe after the Reformation.
