There is now field experience with such dams reaching 170 m in height, and higher dams are under design.Thereafter, the presentation proceeds to concentrate on the design and construction of asphalt core embankment dams. Using asphalt concrete as an impervious core, provides better protection against internal erosion. The book presents many such dams that have been built over the past 50 years.
